Reviewed Apple and Pear Crisp
"This was a perfect recipe for me. I had both pears and apples in my weekly CSA box. The fruit combination was delicious and the topping for the crisp was fabulous. A very comforting dessert with summer ending and fall on the way. Yes, we served vanilla ice cream with the crisp! ""
Reviewed Portobello Mushroom Lasagna
"I found this lasagna too heavy and rich. And it was expensive to make. I would make it again, but perhaps add more vegetables and lighten the white sauce. ""
Reviewed Vegetable Tian
"Rave reviews for the Vegetable Tian. Loved the fabulous color from the vegetable combination. I did not have a problem with extra moisture from the tomatoes. The tomatoes I used were very ripe and juicy, medium sized. I used a combination of leftover cheeses, mostly sharp cheddar with excellent results. This dish would travel well and be delicious""
Reviewed Strawberry Scones
"Call me a traditionalist, but I did not care for the eggs in the scone dough. The finished scone lacked the ultra flaky texture I was searching for. The scones also were missing that great flavor I've come to expect with Ina's recipes. Perhaps it was the strawberries I used? Ina has set the bar so high, I was disappointed this time!""
Reviewed Peach Tart
"We enjoyed this tart. It was quick and easy to prepare. Although the flavor of the peaches was showcased and did not get lost in the tart filling the overall flavor was a bit mundane. I added 1t vanilla to the filling but next time will also try orange zest. However, I did not like the big pieces of peach. Next time I will cut them in slices that "
Reviewed Tropical Watermelon Sorbet
"This sorbet was easy to make and has great flavor. But it needs to be eaten as soon as it is made. If freezing throughly it becomes a rock solid ice cube, which is impossible to scoop. When removing from the freezer to soften it also responds like an ice cube. The flavor portion melts while the water remains frozen. Yuk, if not consumed when made. "
Reviewed Rib Eyes with Goat Cheese, Meyer Lemon-Honey Mustard and Watercress
"We tried this recipe on the 4th of July. We adore grilled rib eyes and usually serve with a traditional salsa. As this was my 1st Bobby Flay recipe & I was not sure about trying for the holiday. But everyone adored it! Who knew, goat cheese, vinaigrette and arugula (instead of watercress) would be so good with the rib eyes! Thanks Bobby!"
Reviewed Jalapeno Cheddar Cornbread
"Dense but light cornbread, how is that possible? Almost a dessert! I did add fresh corn from 3 ears, sauteed in a bit of butter and used a white English cheddar. Great Ina recipe. "
