Reviewed better buttermilk biscuits

May 6, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

These are hands down the best biscuits I've ever tasted!
I did substitute butter for the shortening and I used closer to one cup of buttermilk, but otherwise the recipe is perfect. This will be a keeper in our home.
Thanks Tyler!

Reviewed Smoky Scalloped Potatoes

Jan 24, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I thought these came out great. I sliced the potatoes thinly with a mandoline and put them in raw. Topped each layer with cheese and sauce, and added extra garlic and bay leaf to the sauce. Easy to make and delicious!"

Best. Potato salad. Ever.
I used extra thick cut bacon, green onions instead of red, and dill in place of the parsley. Also, I made my own thick ranch dressing.
I will be making this potato salad from now on. "

Naturally, I added broth for the gravy rather than water, and as others stated, seasoned to my taste. But it's a good basic start to an alright, easy dinner.""

Reviewed Pat's Famous Beef and Pork Chili

Feb 12, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I made this for dinner tonight, and it was good. I substituted the ground pork for Italian Sausage, and the ground beef for chunks of steak. I added a can of roasted green chilis, and left out the ancho chili powder, in exchange for some cayanne pepper. I thought it was a good, well rounded chili. Next time, I will add some jalepenos.""

A keeper for sure! I made the chops as suggested, but made a gravy from the pan drippings and the leftover seasoned flour. I used beef broth, added some sage, and sauteed mushrooms. Phenominal! ""

I made this tonight, and really enjoyed it. The cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon make this dish something special.

Dec 9, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

PERFECTION = This recipe with a diced jalepeno, a little more salt and lime juice, and paprica rather than cayanne. Even my hubby raved about it, and he hates guacamole.
I combined all the ingredients except the avacaodos. Let them marry in the fridge a few hours, and added the avacado right before serving to prevent discoloring. Worked...

Reviewed Baked Ziti in a Mornay Sauce with Italian Sausage and Fennel

Oct 30, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This was a nice change. The Mornay Sauce was phenomenal! I made it with pecorino romano, which I think gave it more depth. To the italian sausage, I also added a red bell pepper, 1/2 of a yellow onion, and some fresh garlic. It was easy to make and even easier to eat. I will be adding this to the rotation for sure!
