O. M. G. this is as good as all the reviews say it is. I used Guiness Red Harvest stout and put a whole tall can of it in. I only use Neys Big Sky farm raised organic beef and I used a 3 lb. chuck roast in the recipe with my cast iron dutch oven. I added some beef bullion to the cup of water. homemade sauce is too easy to make to use sauce from a jar with this recipe. try Giada';s recipe for marinara sauce with this. its killer good. I also add some pecorino romano and provolone in with the cheeses. it was awesome"

Made this recipe today and it is certainly a 5 star dish. I used smoked ham hocks in place of the smoked butt. I cut the whole thing in half, substituted some breakfast sausage for the spare ribs and used some chicken broth instead of water. It turned out great.
