Reviewed Chicken Salad Sandwiches

Feb 20, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

The secret behind this (and all chicken salads) is using bone-in breasts and roasting them in the oven. Turns out juicy and flavorful every time! This is the perfect base recipe that you can add other ingredients to (grapes or raisins, almonds, etc). Awesome chicken salad - my second favorite after Ina's Mustard Chicken Salad (very different, but...

WOW! The duxelle is amazingly delicious. Despite calling for a dry white wine, I used a sweet riesling - all I had on hand that was cheap - and it was wonderful. I only made 2 filets but made the full amount of duxelle. I don't think I would have had enough duxelle if I had made 4 filets...but that's just individual preference. I cooked the filet...

Reviewed Pasta with Sun-Dried Tomatoes

I love all the ingredients that went into this salad, however the combination was somehow wrong. The flavor was very overpowering and strong. Way too much sun-dried tomato and olive/caper flavor. We ended up throwing out the rest.

If I could give this recipe 10 stars, I would. I consider myself a layered salad connoisseur and this one is the greatest! Quick and easy enough to make for regular dinner and tasty enough to make for company.

Reviewed Chicken a la King with Buttermilk Biscuits

Jan 13, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Great recipe. Very easy. It turned out a little thicker than I've ever had chicken a la king before, but it was still really good. I was a little suspect of the green peppers, but they added a lot of depth. It was even better when reheated the second day. The biscuits were just okay - that said, I had to sub milk and vinegar for buttermilk so maybe...

I LOVE raw cookie dough so I was super excited about this recipe. I followed others' recommendations to chill the dough before rolling into balls and after - which was the best tip ever! Totally helped. The final product was disappointing. It tasted like cookie dough but just had a funky taste and waaaaaaay too sweet (and I have a sweet tooth!). I...

Overall, this recipe was just good. On the plus side, it was super easy and quick to make. I had all the ingredients on hand. On the negative side, my husband said that it was a little overspiced (and I had added LESS nutmeg than called for) but had two more pieces the next day and said that it tasted better after sitting. I love apple butter, but...

As a huge Paula fan, I enjoy most of her recipes. Overall, this recipe was just good. On the plus side, it was super easy and quick to make. On the negative side, my husband said that it was a little overspiced (I think he wasn't expecting the apple butter taste) - but had two more pieces the next day and said that it tasted better after sitting....
