"This french toast is amazing and perfect for a large group! Its part french toast, part bread pudding and part sticky bun. I made it Christmas morning and used croissants, but didn't soak it overnight. I also didn't have half and half so used whole milk. It turned out great. Doing most of the work the night before would be convenient though, then you just put the topping on in the morning and bake...no standing over a griddle making one slice of french toast at a time. I didn't have any problem with the butter seperating from the topping ingredients.
