Be aware that the recipe online is different than the show. This is why my caramel sauce did not come out right and was too thin to stick to the apples. She only uses 1/2 STICK of butter and 1 cup of heavy cream instead of 2.

Sorry, I meant 1/2 STICK of butter not 1/2 cup of butter!

So now I know why my caramel didn't come out......the recipe is wrong. I just watched the show and she only uses 1/2 cup of butter and 1 cup of heavy cream - huge difference! Come on Food Network, let's print the recipes correctly! What a waste of expensive ingredients.

OK so i tried to make this BEFORE I watched the show which didn't work. I made it twice and the carmel was too thin it didn't stick to the apples. It tasted great and I will save it for another use but I have no idea what I did wrong. Maybe since the recipe did not specify the use of a candy thermometer it didn't get hot enough??
