Reviewed pan-seared steak and onions

Dec 17, 2014 on

Delicious, quick and easy. Followed exactly, not too "bourbony" and I agree with another reviewer---mushrooms sound good to add to the mix.

Reviewed Tart Cranberry Dipping Sauce Recipe : Alton Brown : Food Network

Nov 29, 2014 on

Makes enough for 2 dinners. Love the tart taste but did add extra brown sugar and maple syrup to sweeten a bit more. I made it ahead, yay and didn't put it in the blender (didn't want the cleanup). Will use it for turkey this time and pork loin dinner next time. Love the idea of keeping it thin and pureed for cranberry martinis! Keeper for sure;)

Reviewed frizzled brussels sprouts with roasted romanesco

Oct 26, 2014 on

Found a beautiful head of romanesco at our favorite farm stand and wanted to find a recipe worthy of its beauty----this wasn't it. Very bitter and no subtle hand in this dish. It wasn't even pretty with all of these colors.
Anne is still a rock star but this recipe isn't even worth modifying to save it. Sorry.......

Reviewed lemon and herb marinated grilled chicken thighs

Versatile, easy and quick recipe. Start with a hot grill so you crisp the skin. Don't skip the grilled lemon, its so good!

Reviewed grilled skirt with herbed breadcrumbs and bagna cauda sauce

Aug 7, 2014 on

Only a review on the Bagna Cauda sauce--- Really revs up a steak! Quick, easy, and tasty. Too many calories to do it every time but a game changer for a typical steak dinner. I used anchovy paste to make it even easier.

Reviewed peach crumb cake

Aug 7, 2014 on

Couldn't find my peach cake recipe and thought this one sounded good and easy. It was! I had some fresh blueberries and added them for flavor and color (it worked). I also added and recommend extra peaches.
To combat the fruit falling to the bottom---1) The batter is pretty sturdy; so simply doing a medium dice or a thin slice should work....

Didn't have any avocados around but had everything else and the mojo/marinade is the bomb! Delicious and easy definitely my go to steak fajita recipe; next time I'll hit it with the guac!

Very quick and easy but lacks the cheesecake flavor. Would recommend recipe but incorporate more sour cream and philly.

Reviewed chile-rubbed chicken breast with kale, quinoa and brussels sprouts salad

Mar 5, 2014 on

So good! So easy! So different!
I would like to point out this is more like a salad than a dinner but it is a salad that eats like a meal. (Hope that makes sense...) I didn't think this would be anything special as I was making it but boy-oh-boy does this one wow the taste buds, everything comes together beautifully at the last minute.

Reviewed lemon ricotta pancakes with lemon curd and fresh raspberries

Jan 30, 2014 on

Very tender pancakes! The ricotta makes a real difference. The balance of the sweet and tart is perfect.

You will never need to buy a "yellow and blue" box again (hint, hint). I usually cut the recipe by 1/3 and make it as needed.

Reviewed Spicy Jalapeno Sliders

Jan 1, 2014 on

Addictive! We've been making these for over a year and won't even look at any other slider recipe. My husband usually takes charge of these and says to describe them in two words-----Yum mee!!!! ;)
We use whatever cheese we have on hand and the Hawaiian Rolls for the buns.

Reviewed Gnocchi With Squash and Kale

Jan 1, 2014 on

Wonderful one dish meal! Versatile, filling, and healthy; 3 things I really like. Followed the recipe except for the addition of diced ham for flavor (and my husband). I probably added 3/4 cup of the ham and I thought it did add to the dish but if you're going meatless I still would recommend the recipe.
A few reviewers mentioned that the...

Reviewed Dried Cherry and Almond Biscotti

Dec 19, 2013 on

Wonderful combination of flavors! I've always wanted to be able to bake/cook with dried cherries and this recipe answered that dream. (Yay!)
I regret that based on previous reviews that I over baked (imho) the cookies. Of course dunking them in a hot beverage saved them but I prefer them softer and will follow Anne's times more closely the...

Reviewed Turkey, Kale and Brown Rice Soup

Dec 17, 2013 on

Super easy, very flexible, delicious soup! Comes together quickly and the kale gives it a healthy freshness. As Debbie C. just said in the previous review; " it needs more broth."

Reviewed Lemon Curd Trifle with Fresh Berries

Dec 11, 2013 on

Delicious and definitely worth the time it takes to make! We've served this to two different sets of dinner guests (both sets claimed to be non-dessert people-haha) and both groups proclaimed it the best dessert they ever had. One young man ate two servings!
Personal preference I like to make individual parfaits, as they stay pretty and...

Reviewed Salted Caramel Crispy Treats

Dec 11, 2013 on

Nice spin on an old favorite. Fans of rice krispy treats enjoyed this new twist but people who are rather bored by the old treats found the caramel to be a real joy to their taste buds! Will make both old and new!
My 2nd batch sugared slightly because I didn't melt the brown sugar thoroughly into the butter before adding the rest of the ingredients....

Reviewed Roasted Sausages and Grapes

Dec 11, 2013 on

Have made several times and loved it every single time! You cannot mess this one up.
A quick tip I use is to make sure the grapes are FIRM; this helps them not to get soft when you roast them. We also like to grill the sausages. Enjoy!

Reviewed Salted Caramel Crispy Treats

Dec 11, 2013 on

Nice trick for rice krispy treats(rkt)! People who love rkt still enjoyed but people who are bored with rkt loved the difference. Don't over boil caramel mixture (I followed instructions exactly). Also, make certain sugar is disolved completely into the butter before adding the rest of the ingredients or it can "sugar" on you.

Reviewed Pumpkin Soup with Chili Cran-Apple Relish

Dec 11, 2013 on

Easy recipe to follow and most items are on hand in your average kitchen. Really enjoyed the apple relish with the chili kick and it elevates the soup considerably. I would make this again but will consider other recipes to further embellish the results.

Reviewed Grilled Sausages with Grilled Shallot Relish with Fresh Ricotta and Toasted Baguette

Super, super, super delicious!!! I have made this 3 times and got major props from everyone. One of my favorite compliments was, "This is so good, let's just stay home and eat this for dinner!" Definitely worth it to make the ricotta homemade but I don't think you can mess this one up. Cannot say enough positive about this one. ;)

I love the concept of this recipe but didn't love the end result. Lukewarm reviews by entire family. Followed the recipe exactly (except for the use of a crockpot (which worked wonderfully) and still a thumbs down.
I wouldn't buy the gougochang ever again, use sriracha instead. I will try to recreate the concept but do so more simply, sort...

Feb 12, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

I really love lemon and this cake did not disappoint! After reading a couple of dozen reviews I was concerned it would be too mellow so I played up the tartness based on some previous pointers. Reviewed Red Wine Risotto with Peas

Jan 12, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

This recipe would be a 5 Star rating because of the flavor but the color is off putting. Love the taste the red wine adds but does anyone have a solution for the pink color of the dish? I would make this again but only for family, it is probably too much for company to get over "the pink rice dish.""

Ehhh, not so fabulous. Based on the high reviews I made a double batch... Let's just say its gonna be a loooong winter. As other reviews have said the flavor is bland. It is more like a soup than chili and as a soup is still just okay. I think I will try Ina's chicken chili and the chicken chili recipe that seems to have a Mexican flair next year."
