Reviewed Barbecued Ribs

"I love Ina's shows and most of her recipes. I've made a lot of them. I think this one misses the mark. First, the recipe calls for country ribs but obviously on the show they grilled 2 racks of spare ribs. For those who bought country ribs, what a bummer! Reviewed French Toast with Strawberries and Cream

"I made this several times with other than brioche cause I couldn't find it. I found some this week. Will probably never use another kind of bread for Fr Toast again. I ate half of mine with the strawberry mix & the other half with real maple syrup. Loved both. Mixing them together would probably be good too but that's not the recipe I am reviewing""

Reviewed Roasted Corn Chowder with Lime Cured Shrimp

"The 5-star rating is for Robert's recipe as written. What I made was slightly different. There were just going to be 2 of us eating so I didn't want to make the full 8 serving recipe. For a few ingredients, to make half, I felt that I needed to use more or less than half. (Ex.: I used the full amount of bacon so I would have the "pork fat" to saute the veggies.) I used all ingredients except cayenne pepper which I don't eat. I didn't quite use half of the lime juice but now wish I had. It added kind of kickyness that was great. I couldn't find "shelled and deveined baby shrimp" so I used chopped 26-31 count. Worked well.

I will make this again. I may cut some fat by using half & half.

About Me

My name is Dean and I am from Kansas City, MO. My food specialty is BBQ'd and grilled food but do well inside as well. When I write reviews, I feel that it is only fair to review the recipe AS WRITTEN by the "author," not a review of how I may have altered it. I may explain how I altered it or make suggestions.
