"Made this coffee cake last week, and I must say I was a little disappointed. I realize coffee cake is a little dense and dry but this coffee cake was very dry. If I make it again I will use sour cream or more buttermilk for a more moister cake."

"The hoe cakes are delicious. The next time I make these I will modify the recipe a bit to add a little brown sugar or maybe even a hint of molasses for a sweeter hoe cake. I also made a concotion of molasses butter to accompany my hoe cakes since I did not have any maple syrup, I combined a cup of soft margarine and a teaspoon and a half of molasses, mixed together and dolloped on top of hoe cakes....delicious!
