I found the cooking time of 10 minutes to be far too short. I had to cook for at least 20 for it to thicken, but when it did it really thickened. This is a great and simple recipe, and is the only way I will now eat oatmeal.

I must be doing something wrong, I didn't get anything "creamy" or anything even remotely resembling rice pudding. What I got was four cups of hot milk with grains of steel cut oats on the bottom. I followed the recipe to the letter but the oats never thickened. They did soften, but I still had to drink this out of a cup.

Halal corned beef is very hard to find, so I decided to corn my own thanks to Mr Brown's recipe here. I also had trouble finding saltpeter but I just ordered it off Amazon.
