Reviewed glorified hash-brown cake with frying peppers

Oct 4, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

Great recipe! The directions were very helpful especially for flipping the hashbrown cake out of and back into the skillet. I agree with airbornesurveyor about the amount of potatoes: you could get away with less. The only change I made was to add a chopped jalapeno along with the diced onion to the hashbrown cake rather than separately blistering...

I was able to get a printer-friendly version by clicking on the red icon on the left of the screen. It should be the top icon above a plus sign, an envelope icon, a right-facing arrow icon, and Facebook and Pinterest buttons respectively. When you scroll over it, it should say "PRINT". Click and then a new tab/window should pop for you to print.

This was great! My husband loves hashbrowns and making a big dish of it seemed reasonable to me. The recipe directions were very helpful especially for the tricky parts flipping the cake out of the skillet. I will say that it required a lot of prep work--scrubbing the taters then boiling and shredding them. All in all it took me about two hours from...

Delicious! My friends and family devoured it. This recipe is in my favorite stand-bys! Three suggestions: 1. You really do need an 11-in. pan. I tried a 9-1/2 in. pie pan and a 9-3/4 in. springform pan, but both were too small for all the filling. Everything fit when I used the 11-in. 2. You can cut the feta cheese. With all the other cheeses,...

These dumplings are AWESOME! The herb mixture lends a very nice aftertaste. A good tip is to grate the chilled butter directly into the flour mixture. It makes it much easier to cut in, while still allowing a perfect consistency when steamed."

I'm rating and reviewing based on a significant modification--I use a leftover rotisserie chicken carcass and essentially halve the rest of the recipe for chicken dumpling stew instead. It is one of my favorite meals and consistently receives complements. Plus, I love how it doesn't let anything go to waste! "

Excellent recipe! I also had issues with it being too salty, but I compensate by halving the salt since I use regular table salt. This recipe always wows and is a keeper! "

Sep 13, 2012 in on Food.com

This is a great recipe for those hesitant to try something different. Although it seems like a lot of spices, the seasoning actually tastes quite subtle, not very noticeable. I adjusted the cooking heat and time, starting the flame at medium-low and simmering sauce then kefta, covered, for nearly an hour. Served with pita and Arab-style salad, t...
