My Activity

Reviewed Peasant Pasta

"I usually like every recipe by Rachael but I think this is the first time I have made something by her that I found absolutely vile! Thankfully I made another pasta dish alongside it because while nobody complained about it, surely it was not the favorite. There is no balance of flavors in the dish. There isn't enough cream in it to make it creamy"

Reviewed Perciatelli with Bolognese

"I have been searching for the ultimate Bolognese sauce for years. I have tried them all - Martha, Emeril, Tyler, Rachel, Lidia Bastianich and about a half a dozen more. This sauce stands out as far superior. It has the most unbelievable depth of flavor. I like a little bit of rosemary in my Bolognese so I added about a teaspoon of fresh rosemary. "

Reviewed Bobby Flay's Spaghetti and Meat Balls with Tomato Sauce

"I'm not sure what all the fuss is about or I must be a food snob. Don't get me wrong, these were good but by no means excellent or good enough for company. The meatballs didn't have a lot of flavor and I followed the directions exactly and seasoned well with salt and pepper. I felt like they needed more seasoning. The sauce was good but very basic marinara which would be fine if the meatballs really stood out. I will continue looking for the perfect meatball.

Reviewed Dragon's Breath Chili

"BOMB! I have been making chili similar to this recipe for years. I think the addition of all the fresh chilies is really what takes this recipe over the top. I did not use the Italian sausage because I am not particularly fond of it. I also only used 1 small can of tomato paste which does not equal the 1c listed in recipe. I like the addition of the beef chuck. I sliced it pretty thin and small. Other reviews are correct - this is a labor intensive recipe that requires a lot of chopping. Between roasting the chilies and cutting up everything else the prep really is about an hour and I have been cooking for years. However this is WELL worth the time. Forget other chili recipes this is the one.
