Reviewed puff pastry heirloom tomato tart

Aug 29, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

This was good, but how could it not be? It's puff pastry, cream cheese and fresh tomatoes for crying out loud. But I didn't think it was amazing and here's why...way too much cream cheese! The tart isn't that big (I used a ruler to roll it out according to recipe specifications) so a whole package is like a big mouthful of cream cheese in each bite....

Reviewed spanish burger with pickled shallots

Aug 29, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

This burger was really yummy. I tried to stay true to the recipe but did make a few substitutions so I didn't have to buy a bunch of stuff I didn't already have. I didn't have an anchovy, so I subbed about a teaspoon of capers in the aioli. Used the jarred red pepper option. I didn't have arugula, so used spinach. I used 1 lb ground beef 93/7 and...

I can't actually review the sauce because I went with a bottled sauce to save time, but the dish was delicious. I thought it was definitely had an impressive presentation and would be great for company. My husband thought it was one of the best meals I have made and he doesn't even love zucchini."

I thought this was nasty. I don't know how this tasted so bad because all of the ingredients separately are good. I don't know, but I couldn't even eat it. I did use several sheets of phyllo dough instead of puff pastry, but the crust wasn't my issue."

Reviewed Cold Peanut-Sesame Noodles

Jun 5, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I have made a number of peanut sesame noodle dishes and this is my favorite. Maybe it's the green tea that makes it different. Followed recipe exactly and paired with Cumin Chile Pork Kabobs for a wonderful meal. "

I made this recipe Paleo by substituting Coconut Aminos for the soy sauce and honey for the sugar. Very yummy, but I'm not sure you even need the sauce because the marinade/basting sauce is so good. I paired it with the Cold Peanut Sesame Noodles featured with it and it was a great compliment. "

Reviewed Roast Chicken Salad Sandwiches

Jun 5, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This is the first homemade mayo I have attempted and it was pretty darn easy. I made with rotisserie chicken because roasting a chicken for a sandwich is just too much work in my opinion. I only had a 3 lb chicken and I think the mayo to chicken ratio was just right."

Reviewed Grilled Red Chile Buttermilk Chicken with Spicy Mango Honey Glaze

Jun 5, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This was good. It was fun to try something different, and it was different, but I'm not sure it was so great I'd make it again. There was WAY too much mango sauce for me. I did use 7 boneless chicken thighs so I probably had less meat than Bobby. But, unless you want to drown the chicken in the mango sauce, you could definitely 1/2 it."

Super yummy. The pesto is fantastic, especially if you make enough to dip each bite in on the side. The birds only took 40 minutes to cook and were perfect."

I was surprised by this one. Fresh, clean and perfect for a hot night. I didn't have cucumbers so I added sugar snap peas instead. I have made it twice now and substituted oyster sauce for the fish sauce."

Delicious. I made this on the 4th of July, all outside, and it was great. I thought the peppers where too hot to eat, but other people ate them. I chopped one up and added it to the salsa."
