My Activity

Reviewed Exotic Spice Cookies with Ginger, Cardamom and Rose Water

"Very good cookie. I read some other reviews, made my own variations to the recipe and it came out just fine. I used more butter in place of the shortening, increased the rose water to 3 tsp, substituted the pepper for allspice, and left out the candied ginger. Over all it was a very flavorful cookie. "

Reviewed Easy Cheese Danish

"Very easy to make and quite tasty. The only modifications I made was cutting it down to using the rind of 1 lemon, adding 1/2 tsp of cardamom, and adding a dollop of canned cherries to the filling before baking. Then I brushed the pastry with the egg wash and sprinkled sugar all over. "

Reviewed Sweet and Sour Mahi-Mahi

"The sauce is delicious. But I used brown sugar instead of regular sugar, and added some cayenne pepper and garlic for more flavor. I also used panko bread crumbs for a crunchier texture."

Reviewed Cornmeal-Crusted Roasted Ratatouille Tart

"I'm not a fan of eggplant but this was a really good meal. I did add some garlic powder and Garam masala in the crust mixture and it was delicious. I also added minced garlic, sliced carrots, bell peppers and yellow squash to the filling. It would also make a great side dish."

Reviewed Cranberry Harvest Muffins

"Really good flavor, easy to make. I did add 1 tsp of cardamom, 2 tsp of vanilla extract, and I used Craisins instead of cranberries. Also my batch made 24 large cupcakes vs 18."

Reviewed Baklava

"I really liked this baklava. It tasted better than what I've been served in restaurants. But I also did a few alterations. I used 4 different types of nuts, added cardamom, cinnamon and 1 cup of sugar to the nut mixture. Then I melted the honey, 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of brown sugar, about 1 1/12 tsp vanilla, the water, and 4 heaping tablespoons"

Reviewed Citrus Crostata

"I've wanted to try this recipe for a long time and finally found a store that carried mascarpone cheese. IMO, the cheese tasted like unsalted whipped butter by itself, so that was disappointing.
Then it took me about 2 hours to prep the fruit. I followed the directions too a tee. The jam never firmed up, so I added more arrow root. It was still to"

Reviewed New England Clam Chowder

"I didn't have any clams or heavy cream, so instead I chopped up some shrimp and I used 2 eggs in place of the heavy cream, and used 3 cups of whole milk. I also added 4 tbsp of garlic and 1 tsp of celery seed. It came out just fine."
