Reviewed Cheddar-Dill Scones

Aug 5, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I gotta say, I couldn't bring myself to put 1 cup of heavy cream into this recipe. I just couldn't. Especially with perfectly good buttermilk in the house. I just added a cup of cold buttermilk instead of a cup of heavy cream. Worked like a charm. You can also substitute low fat cheddar with excellent results. It's not quite the same, but it's fin"

OMG these cookies are so good!!!! absolutely marvelous, i am eating a hot one fresh from the oven while I write this. The base bread flour recipe is superb, I use it with all sorts of add-ins. My favorite is 3/4 cup chopped pecans and 5 chopped up mini heath bars. Alton's recipes are always the best. ""

Super! We absolutely adored the recipe. As I am incompetent with a pastry bag, I just heaped the meringue on the parchment and smoothed it into a rough disk. I also substituted the framboise for triple sec, that was what we had on hand, and it was perfect! A great dessert for those with a gluten intolerance. "

Reviewed Easy Lobster Paella

An awesome paella recipe! Had to substitute the lobster for shrimp as good fresh lobster is not available where I live and white wine for the pernod, but this recipe is easy to customize. Definitely a keeper.

I would give this recipe a five out of five, when made with adjustments. First I used half the amount of soy sauce, low sodium. Then I halved the amount of oyster sauce and used only a dash of fish sauce. The topping did not crisp up the way I would have liked, and had to go under the broiler for two-three minutes. Overall, the original recipe is...

Lovely! The sweet pop of the grapes and crunch of the celery nicely offsets the richness of the mayo and chicken

This cake was delicious! So moist, and the cream cheese frosting was to die for! If this had been an almond cake, I would've given it five stars. I wish there had been a little more coconut flavor and less almond flavor. In the future, I will try to substitute some or all of the milk for coconut milk, and maybe decrease the almond extract in the cake...

Reviewed Flourless Chocolate Cake

Delicious, exactly the way a flourless chocolate cake should taste. Unless you drown your cake in ganache some will be left over (not that I mind :) The extra sauce is great drizzled over vanilla ice cream, a great accompaniment for this chocolatey cake.

yum, these shortbreads are AMAZING! Great plain, but the chocolate adds a whole new dimension. Also a good recipe to press into a pan and make shortbread bars. All in all, real winner.

A simple side dish, would have benefitted with a bit more personality. Also would have inspired more confidence in the home cook if the directions were more specific (e.g. approximate cooking times, potato type). Additions, such as rosemary (instead of parsley), or spicy bread crumbs improve this dish.
