Reviewed drip beef sandwiches

1 day ago on FoodNetwork.com

What I really like about this recipe is that it tastes very similar to a classic Chicago Italian Beef sandwich - but you don't have to slice the beef! The main other difference is that you DO want the au jus to penetrate the bun -- so it has a bit of a soggy effect. In Chicago, you ask for the sandwich to be dipped - otherwise it can seem dry. But...

This recipe is great. Saw Geoffrey make it on The Kitchen recently. However I often do not have the time to spend -- so I adapted the recipe: sometimes i use a lettuce wrap instead of a bun; have used lobster, crab, tuna and chicken. Then I mix the mayo/mustard with the other ingredients to make on cohesive sauce.

Reviewed mashed potatoes

Saw this on Nigella Bites. I usually add parmesan, buttermilk or Greek yogurt to jazz them up when I'm making taters for guests -- but these are simple and good -- especially for one person who just wants some mashed potatoes! When I've left the skin on in the past I am usually going for a rustic feel and mash them with the skins on. But I love the...

Great recipe and very easy to adapt. I added a little pre-made pesto to zhoosh it up a bit.I also typically use vermouth instead of white wine; I always have it handy because it does not spoil."

Reviewed Leftover Roast Beef Stew

May 15, 2014 in null on Food.com

This is a great and easy recipe. I first made a rare rump roast with the intention of making other things out of it. First, I served it kind of l like a prime rib with roasted onion potatoes and a salad. Then I thin shaved it for a Japanese dish like the ones served at Yoshinoya Beef Bowl. After that, made a few sandwiches. I froze some individual...

Great sauce! I made 2 batches. After the first batch, instead of dipping the pot into cold water, I took it off the heat and gently stirred in the other ingredients."

These are my favorite roasted potatoes. Even though they really don';t need it, I have a compulsion to mash them and add butter on my plate! I know that is awful, but I cannot help myself. The flavor of the butter still adds so much!"

Reviewed The Best One-Bowl Hash Brown Potato Casserole

May 12, 2014 in null on Food.com

Great recipe! However, I shred my own potatoes with a coarse shredder and soak them in water first to remove the starch. I also sometimes use a Velveeta cheese sauce instead of cheddar - omitting the cream of mushroom soup. Comes out a bit more creamy. Also, as I always do, I sub out the sour cream for plain Greek yogurt."

This is a fantastic recipe. I made it one Xmas for my sister - the whitish broth and green reminded me of the season. Very good copycat. I began by roasting a rump roast to rare. That way, I knew I could add the beef to the broth so it wouldn';t get too tough. Also, I could use the roast for other stuff. I could tell that was way too much sugar and soy sauce for my tastes, so I cut that in half. Even with the sugar cut in half it was too much, so next time I...

Absolutely scrumptious! I used fresh made chicken stock instead of white wine because I did not have any white wine or vermouth (which I usually use because it doesn';t spoil). There was no salt in it since I made it myself. I then substituted fresh, uncooked spinach and sauteed mushrooms in place of broccoli since I did not have any on hand....
