Reviewed pulled chicken with bourbon bbq

Apr 19, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

Too sweet - even without the brown sugar. I guess I like a little more spice/vinegar and less sweet. I did like the texture of the cabbage slaw with the chicken.

Reviewed Quick Pulled Pork Tostadas

This was very easy to make and full of flavor. The pork stayed moist too. Definitely going to make again!!!!"

Reviewed Yellow Squash Casserole

Aug 12, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This was very dry (probably because of all the crushed crackers) and way too salty. Had one serving and threw the rest out."

Reviewed Zucchini and Goat Cheese Crustless Quiche

Aug 12, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Great recipe! Very tasty, and light, fluffy texture. Only used 4 oz goat cheese and that was plenty with the swiss cheese. I didn't have day old bread to use so replace with panko. Would have been really great with a crust."

Reviewed Gnocchi With Squash and Kale

Jul 25, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

In my search to figure out what to do with week after week of kale from our CSA, I decided to try this recipe. While it looked good, I really didn't like the texture or taste. The gnocchi was on the mushy side and there wasn't much taste to the vegetables other than parmesan."

Reviewed Creamy Oatmeal

Apr 2, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Followed a previous reviewer's tip to cook on a lower temp and had no issues with burning on the bottom of the pan. This was my first time making steel cut oats and although I was skeptical of what the texture would be like when I saw what steel cut oats look like, I was pleasantly surprised. This was a nice, creamy recipe with just the right am"

Even better the second day! It thickens up overnight. This recipe has wonderful flavor."

Reviewed Spanish Chicken and Potato Roast

Mar 17, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Very tasty - and much healthier way to cook the potatoes than the last recipe I tried which used a lot of butter. I used 1/2 pound chicken thighs and 1 lb chicken breasts. They were on the thicker side so I needed to leave the chicken in the oven another 10 minutes before it was fully cooked."

Reviewed Greek Quinoa Salad

Mar 15, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Great flavor and pretty easy to make! I will definitely make again, and only change I will make is to reduce the salt a bit."

Reviewed Slow Cooker Tortilla Soup

Mar 15, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

There was nothing wrong with this recipe, but it didn't wow me either. I have made other tortilla soups and they don't require a slow cooker. The chicken was very tender which was nice."

Reviewed Grilled Vegetable, Herb and Goat Cheese Sandwiches

Jan 1, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Great flavors! We have a ridged grill pan that I use on our stovetop and when I tried grilling the first batch of veggies, the sun dried tomatoes started to burn before the zucchini and eggplant were cooked, so I roasted the rest in the oven at 425 for 20 minutes. Came out really good."

Reviewed Mini Frittatas

Nov 20, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Based on the number of positive reviews, I wonder if I did something wrong....I thought the mini frittatas tasted pretty bland, and on top of that, only made half the number the recipe indicated. "

Reviewed Just Keep Livin' Margarita

Sep 3, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Was invited to a friend's home for margaritas and nachos and had to get myself a copy of this recipe! I love margaritas, but have tried for several years to find a great recipe - this is it! Great ratio of alcohol to juice etc - does not taste overly alcohol-y and not too sweet. Packs a good punch though at the same time."

Until I found this recipe, I have not had any success making portobello mushrooms, although I love to eat them. This recipe is great! We have eaten them whole like a burger and also sliced them up on arugula and served as salad."

Reviewed Hawaiian BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich with Grilled Pineapple Relish

May 28, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This recipe came out looking exactly like it did on the show and tasted fantastic! Our guests really liked it too.

Our pineapple took longer to grill than the recipe indicated, but we had to use a grill pan on our stove because we do not have a grill. Definitely plan to make this over again (many times)."

Reviewed Baked Samosas with Mint Chutney

Mar 19, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

The filling tasted fantastic and these were pretty easy. I loved the combination of sweet and spicy flavors and the mint chutney tasted great with the samosas. I thought they were a little greasy with the puff pastry dough, and in order to get (8) samosas, I needed to roll out the dough I trimmed when making the circles the recipe called for. I ...

Reviewed Cuban Style Pork Tenderloin Sandwiches and Fried Plantains

Mar 13, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This receipe was really easy to make and super tasty. My husband used thin sliced Italian bread that he brushed with olive oil and then grilled and I used up some panini bread we had in our freezer. I don't like peppers or scallions so just chopped up dill pickles, but in all other aspects I stuck to the recipe.""

Reviewed Almond, Pear and Cherry Pocket Pies

Sep 19, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I have never used puff pastry before and this recipe was much simpler than I would have anticipated. I don't think my puff pastry sheets were the same size as used by the chef so I had some uneven size pockets, but that's ok, and I think mine cooked a little quick as they were a bit on the brown side (should have been paying a little closer atte...

Reviewed Acorn Squash Soup

Sep 19, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I loved this recipe! Most of the acorn squash recipes I have tried previously have been overly sweet. I loved the bit of spicy kick this recipe has. I am not a big fan of strong onion taste so added only half the shallots (just the roasted shallots), so I also didn't use the butter since I didn't need to saute the other shallots. I didn't have...
