"After looking at mulitple recipes, I chose this one. It is fabulous! I made 10 batches as gifts. Everyone loves them. I cut the caramels into strips and then into bite sized pieces and wrapped them in waxed paper. I, also, in one batch added 2 Tbls. of instant coffee powder to the cream mixture and made coffee caramels, and omitted the sprinkled salt, excellent! But, a word of caution, you must use a reliable candy thermometer and not go over the firm ball stage or they will be too firm. These turn out buttery, salty, sweet.
