Reviewed Grilled Lobster Tails with Herb Butter

Jul 10, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I'm not sure this should be listed as an "easy" recipe...we followed the cooking-times, but are not completely proficient with controlling grill temps (working on a charcoal grill), and desicated our lobster. Just a note for beginners...you will be afraid of undercooking. You SHOULD be afraid of overcooking. Next time, we'll just roast in the o"

Reviewed Corn and Black Bean Salad with Basil-Lime Vinaigrette

Jul 10, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I did like this, but it ended up being somewhat 1-dimensional. Between the sweetness of the corn and of the mango (probably coupled with the mango-juice that was squeezed out in process), this ended up being VERY sweet. It's good when used as a salsa to dip salty tortilla chips in, but on its own, it's pretty bland. The beans just absorb the sw"

AMAZING! This is so simple, but so enhances the taste of the artichoke! I liked artichokes before, mostly because I like playing with my food, but after this recipe, I CRAVE them! I especially like turning the artichoke upside down to stand on its own to steam. You don't get the sogginess of boiling, or the blandness (plus one more utensil to c"

Reviewed Cheesy Polenta

Yummy! I had polenta at a restaurant, and loved it, but I could only find instant polenta in the grocery store. I tried several kinds of instant polenta, and they were all terrible. FINALLY found real polenta (NOT instant!), and used this recipe rather than the package instructions. It was GREAT! I cut the recipe in half, and it still easily...

Reviewed Sweet Potato Fries with Malt Vinegar

Dec 30, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I have also tried sweet potato fries a whole bunch of times, mostly by baking, which has been a dismal failure. I got a Paula Deen fry pot and a candy thermometer for Xmas, and thought this would be the answer! They turned out pretty good. When the recipe says "serve immediately," it's not kidding, though. We made the fries first, and thought...

Reviewed Sage, Sausage and Apple Dressing

Dec 26, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I've made this side for Thanksgiving 3 years in a row. From the beginning, I have substituted dried/staled/toasted bread cubes for the stuffing mix. Sourdough does NOT work; the flavor overwhelms the dressing. French works very well. (If you like mushier dressings, stick with the stuffing-mix the recipe recommends. If you like a chunkier dressing...

Turned out YUMMY!

I mess with every recipe, because that's the fun part for me.

I don't eat lamb (or beef), so I subbed 1 lb ground pork + 1/2 lb ground turkey. I added 6oz baby bella mushrooms and an additional 1/2 tsp Worsteshire to compensate.

I also added 1/4 cup white cheddar cheese...
