My Activity

Reviewed Simple Scalloped Potatoes

"I made these last night. One inch thick potatoes?! Duh! Never! It has to be a typo as mentioned before. 1/8 " or so was perfect. I didn't have the different cheeses, so just used what I had (cheddar, provolone). I used the nutmeg and used half and half and 2% milk mixed. Turned out great! You have to let this dish sit after taking out of the oven"

Reviewed Alton Brown's Molasses-and-Coffee Pork Chops

"I made these pork chops tonight, and I was surprised. Alton's recipes are usually SO good, but I was really disappointed in these.
Really bland and not that tender. I followed the recipe to the T and even used espresso pwdr with the left over coffee from breakfast to make it a little stronger. These chops were in desperate need of worchestershire"

Reviewed Broccoli Cheese Soup

"Too high of a heat will curdle this soup. Don't let it boil. Use good cheese. I added bacon bits at the end. I also used a little chicken soup base. A can of cream of chicken does the trick. Very good!"

Reviewed Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cakes

"OMG!! Made this yesterday afternoon. It's a great substitute for the traditional pumpkin pie/ something different! I never dreamed it would be so great! I baked it for the 50 min. that it recommended, but, I put a loaf pan of water in the oven underneath it so it wouldn't dry out during baking. BEST pumpkin dessert ever! And serves more people th"

Reviewed Fresh Corn Casserole with Red Bell Peppers and Jalapenos

"Loved this!! I also did something a little different. I first sauteed the corn a little and used a large cast iron skillet. Worked great and enhanced the corn. Everything is better is cast iron!
I also cut the milk and added more cream. "

Reviewed Peanut Butter Cheese Fudge

"To be honest I have not made this yet.. but after reading many of the reviews, and since it's Paula Deen who made it, I'll try it. I
just have to ask though.... what happened to all the salt in the Velveeta if this is a sweet fudge???? :)""

Reviewed Instant Chocolate Cake

"After reading all the reviews, I made this tonight. WOW, I loved it and so did my husband. I also did a little "tweaking" and put 1/2 tsp of cinnamon and also 1/2 tsp. of espresso powder. Also put 1 Tb. of sour cream in with the "wet". We ate it plain after dinner as a snack cake, but you could do SO much with this cake. Try a little drizzle of ""

Reviewed Home-Style French Bread

"I've always wanted to make French Bread at home. So this was my first
time.... Absolutely delicious! I, like others, corrected the typo on
the amount of salt (it pays to read reviews first), and used a little over 1 1/2 tsp. The loaves turned out phenomenal!! This recipe is a keeper! and is now in my favorite recipe box at home.""
