Reviewed peanut butter cookies

Dec 21, 2014 on

Way to go Nancy!! These are the absolute BEST peanut butter cookies EVER! I followed the recipe to the letter... and YES, you DO cream the butter, peanut butter and shortening for that long (6 min.) before you ever do anything else. It's a long time to cream, but worth it. I measured out other ingredients while it was mixing. I cut the baking...

Reviewed Alfredo Sauce

Jan 10, 2014 on

Why anyone would buy Alfredo sauce in a jar is beyond me; not when you can make this! SOOOOO easy, fast and so delicious! Hint: I used GOOD parmesan cheese and just a pinch of nutmeg. I grilled shrimp/spinach and boiled fettuchini noodles, blended all together. What a perfect dinner! Thank you Food Network and Ree! Great enough that I'll make...

Reviewed Overnight Pot Roast

Dec 11, 2013 on

It was good. I like mine better though. Pretty salty it seemed for the size of the meat. So I cut Lipton soup in half. Since this is not a blog, I will not criticize other's opinions. People are sure cranky this time of year. It's a recipe folks, and only ONE version of it. Use chuck roast if that would help.
There can be many variables....

I made these the other night while we were snow bound. They're easy and SO delicious!! I followed the recipe. The only difference was that I took them out of the oven after 8 1/2 minutes. For my oven they turned out perfectly! I made enough to feed the whole town! I put a bunch in the freezer, and will have them throughout the holidays. Thanks...

Reviewed Simple Scalloped Potatoes

I made these last night. One inch thick potatoes?! Duh! Never! It has to be a typo as mentioned before. 1/8 " or so was perfect. I didn't have the different cheeses, so just used what I had (cheddar, provolone). I used the nutmeg and used half and half and 2% milk mixed. Turned out great! You have to let this dish sit after taking out of the...

Reviewed Alton Brown's Molasses-and-Coffee Pork Chops

Mar 14, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

I made these pork chops tonight, and I was surprised. Alton's recipes are usually SO good, but I was really disappointed in these.
Really bland and not that tender. I followed the recipe to the T and even used espresso pwdr with the left over coffee from breakfast to make it a little stronger. These chops were in desperate need of worche...

Too high of a heat will curdle this soup. Don't let it boil. Use good cheese. I added bacon bits at the end. I also used a little chicken soup base. A can of cream of chicken does the trick. Very good!"

OMG!! Made this yesterday afternoon. It's a great substitute for the traditional pumpkin pie/ something different! I never dreamed it would be so great! I baked it for the 50 min. that it recommended, but, I put a loaf pan of water in the oven underneath it so it wouldn't dry out during baking. BEST pumpkin dessert ever! And serves more people th"

Reviewed Fresh Corn Casserole with Red Bell Peppers and Jalapenos

Loved this!! I also did something a little different. I first sauteed the corn a little and used a large cast iron skillet. Worked great and enhanced the corn. Everything is better is cast iron!
I also cut the milk and added more cream. "

To be honest I have not made this yet.. but after reading many of the reviews, and since it's Paula Deen who made it, I'll try it. I
just have to ask though.... what happened to all the salt in the Velveeta if this is a sweet fudge???? :)""

Reviewed Instant Chocolate Cake

Mar 22, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

After reading all the reviews, I made this tonight. WOW, I loved it and so did my husband. I also did a little "tweaking" and put 1/2 tsp of cinnamon and also 1/2 tsp. of espresso powder. Also put 1 Tb. of sour cream in with the "wet". We ate it plain after dinner as a snack cake, but you could do SO much with this cake. Try a little drizzle of...

I've always wanted to make French Bread at home. So this was my first
time.... Absolutely delicious! I, like others, corrected the typo on
the amount of salt (it pays to read reviews first), and used a little over 1 1/2 tsp. The loaves turned out phenomenal!! This recipe is a keeper! and is now in my favorite recipe box at hom...

Fantastic!!! These brownies turned out to be more like a "cake-brownie", but the most delicious!! Don't forget the coffee; it makes the difference! I also put 1/2 tsp of cinnamon in the batter.
Then iced them with home made caramel icing (more of a drizzle). These are scrumptious!! SO MOIST! I also toasted the pecans first.

Perfect for the holidays or anytime. The only change I made was to chop the pecans a little finer as my husband is in the middle of dentistry work and can't chew very well right now; but he LOVES/craves pecans. So this was a way he can enjoy these. It didn't change the taste at all!""
