Reviewed Winter Vegetable Soup

Dec 23, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

I usually like Alton's recipes, but I made this soup tonight and it's pretty terrible. I made it exactly as written, except omitted the parmesan rind and used less water. Both my roommate and I found the broth way too sour. It reminds me of a sweet and sour Asian soup gone wrong. We drained the broth from the vegetables and replaced it with vegetable...

Reviewed Chicken Stew

Wow, this stew hit the spot! It's hearty with robust flavors. Perfect on a cold night with warm biscuits and Giada's Herbed Salad (the one with fresh basil, parsley, romaine, and lemon vinaigrette). I can't wait to make it again for friends! I used fresh basil and Pacific brand organic chicken stock, and good quality tomato paste and olive oil. I...

Reviewed Brussels Sprouts with Walnuts

Dec 27, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Delicious! I reduced the butter to one tablespoon and used about 25% more lemon juice and Parmesan. This would make a tasty vegetarian main dish, maybe with brown rice and sweet potatoes. It tasted great with cornbread! I will make this again and again.
