Reviewed Grandmother Paula's Red Velvet Cake

"This recipe really takes the cake!! It was super moist and decadent. I made it for my boyfriend for his birthday and he, being the greedy child he is, didn't share it with anybody. A week later, I FINALLY got to try it and it was still moist and soft, and delicious! I used hot coco instead of coco powder and I used just a little bit of food coloring, about 0.2 or 0.3 oz and it came out just as bright. 2oz is a little extreme, you might go blind from all the redness :) I didn't use her frosting recipe either, I used Bobby Flay's frosting:
1 1/2 pounds cream cheese, room temperature
1 pound butter, room temperature
2 pounds powdered sugar, sifted
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
and I added lots and lots of walnuts! It gives it a nice crunch and flavor. You should definitely try it. This was my first time making a cake from scratch and let me tell you, it's a lot of work! But I wouldn't mind making it now and again because it is freakishly good. Prepared for a lot of cleaning afterwards.

Reviewed Lemon Chicken

"This recipe was good, but I felt like it was missing something. Maybe I tweaked it too much. I added garlic, ginger (the ginger should be "zested." It brings out the flavor.), red pepper flakes, skipped the curd and replaced it with a whole lemon and a tbsp of sugar. I also had to add cornstarch to thicken the sauce, probably because the acid from the lemon thinned it out.
The good news is my family enjoyed it. I served it with rice because it compliments the sauce very well.

Reviewed Old-Time Beef Stew

"This recipe is very delicious and very easy to make! I made it twice in one week because it quickly vanished! I used water the first time and beef broth the second time. The beef broth does make a BIG difference. I also added potatoes and extra onions. I skipped the all spice. It tasted like canned beef stew, but way healthier! For those who think they "can't cook" this is a great recipe to start with.
