Reviewed Hash Brown Casserole

Dec 22, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

I've made this at Christmas for the last few years, and it's a good, solid recipe if you follow the directions. With time I've gotten more adventurous, and incorporated some of the suggestions in the other comments, and have made a few mods. I think the main thing to bear in mind is that this and other breakfast casserole recipes all follow the same...

Thought this recipe looked rel. tame and boring, but had a menu that I wanted to incorporate cornbread into so decided to make it. It was unbelievable. It wound up being the best thing on the menu and what everybody asked about. I made mine the night before, which I think really helps. I also wound up with extra cornbread after I filled up the"

These were excellent, even though I changed it up to fit what I had on hand. Instead of chorizo I browned and crumbled about a half pound of regular mild breakfast sausage, and instead of gouda I used monterey jack. Really good and will definitely make again.

I made these for the first time for the Super Bowl. They were excellent, worthy of 5 stars. The brownie part is very rich and delicious, but goes really well with the graham cracker crust, since it's not as sweet. In response to some of the comments about too many marshmallows, I used regular size ones, but cut them in half so that they were half...

Very tasty, but I have to agree w/ some of the other reviewers who said that 6 cups of stock would have been better than 7. With 7, I had to keep it in the oven way longer to firm up, and finally (because we were waiting on it to eat) I had to turn the heat up to 400 to make it firm up a little. 6 cups of stock would've been perfect!!

Let me start by saying that something may have gone wrong - I watched the video first and then followed the recipe, but when I melted the butter and put in the flour and mustard it immediately turned into a dry mixture in the pan. But then as I made it, and put in the milk, cheese and other ingredients it looked more like the video. But the overall...

This was really good and relatively easy to make, will definitely make it again. After reading all the other reviews I started worrying about how long to bake it and how long to cool before cutting it to avoid crumbling. I wound up baking it for about the time called for, watching it toward the end to make sure it was a nice, light golden color....
