Reviewed Grilled Chicken with Basil Dressing

Jul 18, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

Just made this grilled chicken and it was the best!!! Marinated for an hour and grilled 4 minutes per side high heat and 4 per side low heat with lid open. So tender but the basil sauce makes it. Very tangy and flavorful. A new summer favorite!"

This recipe was a great base for what I made. Mixed 1 stick butter, 1C sugar, 2 eggs, and 2Tbsp. sour cream. Only had 2 bananas, and put in 1.5 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1 tsp. ginger, 1 tsp. nutmeg, 1/3 cup heavy cream and set aside in separate bowl. Then in third bowl did the dry ingredients; 2C self-rising flour, 1 tsp. baking powder, 1 tsp"

Reviewed Roasted Sweet Potatoes with Honey and Cinnamon

I followed the recipe exactly and they came out all wrong. The honey burned some parts of the sweet potato, so it was a sticky burnt coating, but the outsides were not crispy at all. I did 40 minutes at 375 because it was not enough time, and the insides were soft, but the crispiness was not there at all. Just a little burn from the sugar.

PERFECT recipe for a novice chef!! I'm in college and working with a limited kitchen (think 6x12' space), so I used a cast iron skillet to make this for one. Set the oven to broil, let the skillet get hot while I preheated the oven, then used 2 sprigs of rosemary, minced 2 cloves of garlic and about 1 Tbsp. olive oil with a small pinch of red pepp"

Reviewed Old-Fashioned Meat Loaf- A.K.A 'Basic' Meat Loaf

Oct 3, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

First time making meatloaf in my first college apartment and all I can say is WOW!
The recipe could not get any easier...I think total prep time was about 10 minutes and then throwing it in the oven for an hour was perfect. The loaf itself was fabulous with the onions and green peppers, but what really makes this a keeper is the topping!

Reviewed Sauteed Kale

Oct 3, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

This was my first time making kale and I was a little nervous, because it looks so tough, but because of the health benefits, I thought I would give it a try.
5 stars because of the FLAVOR & EASE!
I used the pre-washed baby kale that comes in a box (no prep required) and followed the directions, but it only took about 10 minutes...

Reviewed Ginger, Lemon, and Lime Martini

Absolutely, hands down, the best drink I've ever had.

I didn't have lemon vodka, so I used 1 cup of regular vodka, with half of the syrup yield, and topped off the shaker with lemon perrier. It was AMAZING!

I made these for my boyfriend and I, but had extra ice cubes, so made them again two days later for my...
