My ActivityI have no recent activity to share.
My interests are in environmental issues, gardening, healthy living, and organic and sustainable foods, but cooking is really my passion. Growing up we always had a garden and the local woods also had plenty of blackberries and blueberries. I learned at an early age how to plant, harvest, make jams and jelly and can food.
I also have this recollection of standing on a chair at 5 years old and my Dad showing me how to cook an egg. I am lucky, both my parents cook and I learned a variety of things from them. My Mom is the more traditional cook and I recall all the holiday dinners, such as turkey at thanksgiving, ham at Christmas. My Dad is the creative one, making stir fry, creating soups from scratch, and dinners from seemingly nothing. Cooking shows were often on the television and as a child I was exposed to Julia Child, the Galloping Gourmet, and the Frugal Gourmet. These shows sparked in me a passion for food that still exists today. Of course Foodnetwork is always on my TV now!
Currently, I have my own organic garden, frequently go to local farms and food suppliers, visit restaurants that support local or sustainable food, and I still can and freeze my own food. I am also writing a cookbook which I hope to someday finish and publish! You can find some of my recipes under the recipes link on my web site. http://webpages.charter.net/culinarycorner/index.htm This website is the compliment to the column I write in my local newspaper The Brookline. I also a Facebook fan page. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Culinary-Corner/104884882909855
