Reviewed Veggie Burgers with Mushrooms

Jan 2, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I like veggie burgers. There is so much you can do with them. So many ways and way enough time to do them all. I use all sorts of buns with the burgers. Muffins help cut down on portion size. Watch the salt, no and I mean no adders like catsup, mustard or mayo. Too much flavor in these veggies burgers to ruin them with adders. ""

Reviewed Buttermilk Baked Chicken

Jan 2, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Basic buttermilk fried chicken which most people will prefer if they ever taste it. I fry mine along with sliced onions and a rough mashed garlic bulb. Adds unique flavor. Just my own take on this King of Comfort Food. Experiment with your own tastes.""

Reviewed Chicken Nuggets with Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce

Jan 2, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Good basic start but always use your own touch and favorite flavors. Mix it up. If you're not experimenting with this recipe then you may as well just make cafeteria food.""

Reviewed Chicken and Black Bean Enchiladas with Gooey Jack Cheese

Jan 2, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I mash the black beans and spread them on the corn tortilla and I use shredded chicken instead of cubed. Always use fresh ingredients when cooking tex mex. Fresh adds so much more flavor and texture. Watch the fluids, too much makes it a stew. Use different types of cheese to get that preferred taste and always watch the amount, less is more.""

Reviewed Mexican Chicken

Jan 2, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Fair. Very common recipe with nothing new. I personally would decrease the amount of cheese. Two cups is a large amount. Use fresh veggies such as sliced toms, bell peppers or jalapenos (depends on your eaters). A very basic dish that can and should be lower fat and modified to your liking. A very quick and easy dish for football days.""

Reviewed Chicken Fingers With Curried Ketchup

Jan 2, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Typical chicken fingers with a different added spice, nothing new. Addition of the curry ketchup is what makes it good and not just a fair dish. Experiment a bit with the curry ketchup until you find your own favorite.""

I'd give it two stars at best. That's all it is, fair. I've seen Guy do better than this. Disappointed.""

Reviewed Old Virginia Batter Bread

Dec 12, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

It's okay. Lets be honest, you have to be raised on this stuff to give it more than three stars. To me putting butter on it ruins the real taste. My choice is not to use the butter but to enjoy the real taste of a corn bread.""

Reviewed Corned-Beef-And-Cabbage Rolls

Dec 12, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Good dish. I'm partial to this type of cooking. Love the cabbage a bit crunchy instead of soft but then it's the way I like it. Nothing tastes like fresh made.""

Reviewed Beef Pops with Pineapple and Parsley Sauce

Dec 12, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Fair to good dish with the same fair to good sauce. I like it but I don't know that I'd make it more than once a year. I made a few changes to my liking but that's what cooking is all about. I'm not a follower. I don't rave about the foods I just give my honest opinion. Not every dish is four or five stars folks. Start using your taste buds...

I don't want to be a spoiler but this is just a very basic dish, nothing special and you give it five stars??? It's probably a three star at best. Start being honest or start eating more than just meat and potatos. Be a judge and not a friend. You start to grow and end up a better cook.""

Very basic recipe. Try it before you serve it to the entire clan. You'll need to make some changes here and there for your own taste. I don't discard onions or herbs. Blend them very fine and make a second gravy with them. Very tasty and different than the traditional gravy granny used to make.""

Reviewed Chili in a Biscuit Bowl

I use corn meal to give it a more authentic southwest flavor. The corn meal is lightly crunchy like a chip on the outside but also moist like corn bread. I chop some jalapenos and add them to the corn meal mix. I use a thicker corn meal dough and bake them like above and when ready to serve dip out the chili and watch the troops dive in. For ...
