My Activity

Reviewed Quick Vanilla Buttercream Frosting

"This is by far the best buttercream frosting I have ever used. I get asked to make my butter cake cupcakes with this buttercream frosting all the time. It's very versatile and you can add other flavors - not just vanilla! Fantastic! "

Reviewed Tres Leches Cake

"This recipe was good, but not what I expected. It looked much gooey-er and more saturate in the milk mixture when Sandra made it. When I made it, however, much of the milk seemed to settle on top around the edges instead of soaking in. This really just was like a little bit sweeter, little bit heavier, little bit stickier yellow cake. I jazzed up the whipped cream with some coconut rum which was good with the toasted coconut! Not sure if I'll make it again. Maybe I'll make more milk mixture for the top if I do. "

Reviewed Throwdown's German Chocolate Cake with Coconut-Pecan-Cajeta Frosting, Chocolate Ganache and Coconut Whipped Cream

"I actually can't stand Bobby Flay, so it was my father who requested this recipe. Bobby Flay's or not, I had to make it for him. Literally, this cake will take you all day to make (at least it felt like all day - this is very labor intensive!). I dirtied nearly every bowl, whisk and spoon in my kitchen two or three times. THAT said: This is such a moist, chocolately cake. The Coconut-Pecan-Cajeta frosting is to die for. And the coconut whipped cream? It really puts this cake over the top. VERY highly recommended and worth the effort. "
