Reviewed The Best Mashed Potatoes

Dec 27, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

This recipe is aptly named. These were by far the best mashed potatoes I've ever eaten.

Reviewed Smoky Scalloped Potatoes

Dec 24, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

I thought this was a very good recipe but a bit bland. I don't think sharp white cheddar cheese has enough flavor to spice up potatoes. Next time, I'll use a tastier cheese.

Reviewed Greek Layered Dip With Pita Chips

May 19, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I love this dish! It is my "go to" dish when I need to bring something. I serve it as a salad bar. That way folks can include the ingredients they like. I make sure I include the pita chips to go along with it. They are so light and delicious. I used Ina Garten's recipe for the Tzatziki Sauce. It is authentic and easy to make. I also used hamburge"

OMG! This is the real deal - very authentic (so say my Greek neighbors). I made the recipe exactly as written except for the salt. I only used 1 teasp. After I shredded the cucumber, I put it in a strainer and pressed out the water. I also let the mix sit, covered, overnight in the refrigerator. I liked it a lot more after it had a chance to meld "

What I made from this recipe was a big hit at the pot luck I took it to. I don't put raw rice in meatballs. It never seems to cook fully no matter what recipe I try. I added bread crumbs and an egg instead. I set the meatballs in the refrigerator while I made the soup. I left out the brown sugar and raisins. I used tomato sauce instead of paste an"

This recipe should not be called IRISH Soda Bread. While it is a tasty bread and it does have soda in it; it is missing the caraway seed typical of IRISH Soda Bread. This recipe should be called Sweet Soda Bread."

Reviewed Crab Cakes With Herb Salad

Jun 3, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This recipe was wonderful! The cakes were very crabby. It was such a simple, refreshing salad. I loved the fact that there was no Old Bay seasoning in the cakes. While I made some changes to accommodate what ingredients I had on hand, I didn't change the basics. 1 lb of jumbo lump crab is too expensive for me so I did 8 oz jumbo lump crab and 8 oz"

May 25, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I used Butcher Thick Cut Hickory-Smoked bacon. While the dish was tasty, I didn't taste the pecan. I'm wondering if the bacon was too thick or if I didn't put in enough pecan. I also took another's suggestion and baked the bacon at 350*. This is definitely worth making again. Thanks, Alton."

This was very yummy! The dish was very creamy and very easy to make. I followed others' advice; tempered the eggs in the milk and shredded the block of cheese. Not being a salt fan, I waited until done before I added salt to taste; probably only 1/2 teaspoon. I also like just a tiny pinch of nutmeg in my pasta. I didn't have any elbow macaroni on "

This meatloaf was very tasty and was a big hit at my dinner. Everybody asked for the recipe. While I didn't change the ingredients, I did change how it was put together. I combined the crouton mix with the veggie mix and tasted it for seasoning. Next I added the egg. Then I added the meat with a few quick strokes. I learned that I could choose chu"

Reviewed Penne with Asparagus and Cherry Tomatoes (Spring

Apr 20, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This was surprisingly tasty! Surprisingly, because I have never had a pasta dish without a "sauce". Cooking the chicken stock down sort of made a sauce. I did double the garlic. The asparagus was just the right shade of crispy. When I make this again, as I surely will, I will use grape tomatoes instead of the cherry. I like smaller tomatoe bites. "

I LOVE this soup! I make it often because it is so simple. Before I blend this with my immersion blender, I remove about 1/4 c of the onions. I add them back after blending. I like having a little something to bite with the soup. I feel the soup is creamy enough after blending that I don't add the cream, either. I also omit the garnish. Well done...

I thought this was a really good soup. I love Panera's and this wasn't quite there. I made it exactly as written; using an immersion blender. The cheese gave it a grainy texture. The next time I make this soup, I will use Velveeta Cheese to see if I get a creamier texture. ""

This is a very easy, very tasty alternative to the marshmallow-laden casserole. The cayenne pepper gives just a little bite and helps cut the sweetness of the potatoes and apples. The heat sneaks up on you. I've never cooked with agave syrup before. I had no trouble finding it in my lttle corner grocery store. It was easy to use. The bourbon I th...
