Reviewed Southern Cornbread Stuffing
"correction... *** it doesn't really compare to cornbread.*** My husband's mother is from up north and the only "cornbread" he had growing up was Jiffy... When we got married and I started making him cornbread, he raved about it. Now, every time I make it he gets so excited. He even requests it at random times. It's cute. Anyway, I think real cornbread is a key ingredient. I would be glad to share my recipe if anyone is interested.
Reviewed Southern Cornbread Stuffing
"Some advice to those new to southern dressing. I'm from MS and began making dressing with my grandmother when I was 14. Since then I've nearly perfected my dressing. For those unfamiliar with southern cooking, Jiffy cornbread is great when you need a quick fix, but it doesn't really to cornbread. I suggest using cornbread instead of Jiffy to get the best flavor. Cornbread isn't that hard to make. Also, no offense to Paula, but I haven't heard of using bread in southern dressing. This may just be a regional difference, but our dressing is amazing. If you want to try a variation on this recipe, omit the bread.
Paula's recipes tend to be genuinely southern, but this one doesn't strike me as southern. Sorry, Paula!
