Reviewed Salmon in Lemon Brodetto with Pea Puree

Aug 17, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Oh. My. G. - This was soooo good. I served this with Giada's Nonna Luna's Rice altogether in a pasta bowl and it was a huge hit! EVERYONE loved it. I had a lot of the brodetto and pea puree (and rice) left over, so I served it with shrimp later in the week. This will definitely be a regular meal for me and my family - I can't wait to make it ...

Reviewed Beef and Black Bean Chili with Toasted Cumin Crema and Avocado Relish

This chili was really good - very spicy! I subbed soy crumbles for the meat and veg stock for the chicken.

This is just too easy - no turning it, nothing - just throw it in the oven. Also, the cooking time is perfect (8 minutes in my oven).

Reviewed Whole-Wheat Pita Chips with Mascarpone-Chive Dipping Sauce

Jan 20, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This was so good - it tasted like all the toppings on a loaded baked potato - chives, sour cream and bacon! In fact, my parents used the leftovers to top their baked potatoes the next day. Yummy - will def make again.

Reviewed Steak au Poivre

This sauce is amazing. I like a lot of pepper, so the amount of peppercorns in the sauce didn't bother me. Also, I used beef stock instead of demi glace and I didn't notice a difference. I'm sure the demi glace would make it more rich though.

Reviewed Warm Zucchini Bread

Jan 20, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This recipe is really good! I've never made zucchini bread before and loved this recipe. I definitely think it could use more zucchini since it didn't seem like there was much throughout the bread - still good though!

Reviewed Holiday Biscotti

Jan 20, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

My mom and I have made these the past couple years as part of our annual holiday baking extravaganza and they are always a hit! We leave out the chocolate dipping part.

Reviewed Ensalada de Lentejas (Lentil Salad

Jan 20, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This salad is really good. I agree that the amount of olive oil is way too much and eyeball how much to add. This lasts a good amount of time in the refrigerator, but, because olive oil hardens when it's chilled, you should take it out, at least, 30 minutes before serving.

Reviewed Tri-Colore Orzo

Jan 20, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I make this a lot in the summer for bbqs and picnics - so good and is great at room temperature. I also add lemon zest. If you can find the ricotta salata, I definitely recommend that, but feta is good too.

So easy - LOVE.

Reviewed Pasta with Pumpkin and Sausage

I was a little apprehensive about the pumpkin, but this turned out really well!!

Reviewed Basic Waffle

Jan 20, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I really like this recipe but make it with a few tweaks by using all whole wheat flour (no ap flour - the batter comes out really thick, so I also add a little extra buttermilk or water to thin it out); subbing egg whites for whole eggs; and no sugar. Sometimes I'll put crumbled bacon in the batter for an even more savory waffle since I don't like...

This is really, really good. I am a vegetarian and substitute the chicken stock for veggie stock. The sauce is amazing and I always make extra.

Reviewed Mac and Cheese

Jan 20, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Best. Mac and Cheese. EVER. I've made this numerous times and leave out the nutmeg. I like to add broccoli sometimes and it's really good and crispy if you use panko bread crumbs for the top.
