Reviewed chocolate cassis cake

9 days ago on

Excellent cake! Yes, more brownie-like than cake-like. I didn't have cassis, so used blackberry flavored brandy (Hiram Walker brand), and it was fine. I didn't taste an alcohol flavor at all like some other viewers complained of. One thing: the recipe says to invert the cake carefully onto a flat plate. Yes, do it very carefully or you'll have cake...

Reviewed cannoli di ricotta

Jan 13, 2015 on

I am not rating the quality of the recipe, but the quality of Food Network inputting recipes. I have come across SO MANY mistakes. The recipe should be 4 tbs. unsalted butter and 1/2 cup marsala wine for the cannoli shells. The filling recipe is the same as what's in his book.

Reviewed Skirt Steak

Jan 7, 2015 in Recipes on Cooking Channel

This is truly the best marinade I have ever tasted for beef. However, it is not meant to be a tenderizing marinade as some are, so please make sure you invest in a good quality skirt steak!! Ours was tough and rubbery, but the taste was amazing!!!"

Reviewed cream cheese wontons

The wontons and dipping sauce are exceptional. I made them exactly per the recipe, but next time will add in some crabmeat. I've been looking for a good crab rangoon recIpe for years and finally, here it is!! I don't like her show too much, but her food is always spot on!!!!

Reviewed mom's lasagna

Dec 19, 2014 on

I have been making lasagna for years now never really following a 'recipe', so when I saw him make this, I thought I would check it out. It was very bland and made way more than 6-8 servings. So, I had a lot of not very good lasagna. It really needs a lot more flavoring and more tomato sauce.

OMGish, this is an incredible recipe. I wondered about cooking them for 9 hours, but worked out perfectly. I used a wine that I usually drink, but next time would use a better one. I used regular bullion cubes, but next time will use half low sodium (which I've never heard of before) and half regular. Absolutely wonderful. The house smelled fanta...

Reviewed chicken enchiladas

Dec 6, 2014 on

Really, really tasty! I made these for a holiday party, so decided to cut down on the chipotle chilis and am glad I did. I love hot food, but many of my friends don't. I only used one chili and with all of the other spices, found it to have just the right amount of heat. I can't imaging using 4 of them. I also made my own enchilada sauce--Don't like...

Reviewed fried onion dip

Nov 17, 2014 on

This is delicious. I couldn't stop my husband from eating the onions as they were cooling! So, I had to make a second batch. I highly recommend making sure you clarify the butter as the onions cook to a much deeper brown than they would if you didn't. The only thing I changed was not adding the honey. This will be my go to onion dip from now on. I...

Reviewed lobster roll

Sep 3, 2014 on

This is by far the best lobster roll I have ever had, and I have had many. It's so light and tasty. The mayo topping is excellent and really adds a pop to the roll. I used left over king crab in place of the lobster. I find that crab is tastier than lobster. I would definitely recommend this!!!!

I'm not rating the recipe, although I'm sure its good. Just wanted to say that Ree did not add any water to the pot of beef. Ree's food is really good. It's a shame the foodnetwork keeps messing up her recipes. There were mistakes on all three of the recipes for this show.

This was ok. I only added half of the allspice and that was enough for us. I think it would have a better texture and taste if you used pineapple instead of papaya.

Jul 29, 2014 on

I made this and followed the recipe exactly, except the tablespoon of salt. Only used 1 teas. but on the show he did say 1 tablespoon, so the recipe as written is correct. I cooked it for 4 hours and the beans were still a bit firm. I would definitely recommend soaking them overnight before cooking them. When I served them, they were absolutely delicious!!!...

Reviewed spice rubbed lamb chops hoisin and with grilled bok choy salad

I just made this complete recipe and it was truly outstanding. I was afraid that the spice mixture for the lamb would taste like Chinese five spice, which I don't care for, but it was much more delicate in flavor and really enhanced the lamb! Make sure you use a hoisin sauce that you know you like, or that could really cause a problem. The bok choy...

These were really good. They weren't quite as flavorful as I thought they would be, but still really tasty. I have enough stuffing left to do about 20 more mushrooms, however. I think next time I will use Marsala instead of dry vermouth and will use half sour cream and half cream cheese. I also reduced my balsamic vinegar down so it got nice and syrupy....
