Reviewed Not Your Mama's Green Bean Casserole
"I have done this recipe three times now with great results. This is just what the canned-soup rehab cook ordered! You CAN do it without the prepackaged soup and onions! AND IT IS BETTER! If your crowd is accustomed to the out-of-cans recipe, I would recommend you bake until your green beans are fully tender so you don't shock your eaters beyon""

"The title says it all!
As an advocate against canned soup, this is just what I hoped for! I must admit that when I read over this recipe, I couldn't picture how the onions could brown well without any fat. I did what it said anyway based on my trust in Alton. I thought they were looking iffy, but then I tasted some and WOAH! I do admit to brushing a tiny bit of melted butter over them as they finished toasting, but wow, were they tasty even before the butter! As I let them brown more, they ended up looking right too. Of course the mushroom cream sauce is fabulous too, but that will be a more obvious prediction for anyone who's done good stroganoff. It's the onions that will surprise you. Don't substitute them. Do them right and they will be the crowning glory of this recipe. Alton, you rock.

"The praise just doesn't stop!
I did my turkey this way for the second year in a row with rave reviews from my family last year and rave reviews from my in-laws this year. I'm amazed at the fabulous, juicy flavorful results I get with this recipe! With a thermometer (I used a digital probe leave-in one), this technique is completely foolproof! I had never done a turkey in my life before I tried this recipe, and by the results you would think I'd honed the art! My first two I've ever done in my life have turned out better than any others I've ever tasted. When I was searching for a recipe, I saw lots of them that called for ingredients I didn't think sounded quite traditional and "Thanksgivingy" enough. This one jumped out at me with its classic herbs and aromatic veggies. Take my word, it is excellent. Thanks, Emeril!
