I have done this recipe three times now with great results. This is just what the canned-soup rehab cook ordered! You CAN do it without the prepackaged soup and onions! AND IT IS BETTER! As an advocate against canned soup, this is just what I hoped for! I must admit that when I read over this recipe, I couldn't picture how the onions could brown well without any fat.
