Made this today - First thing I've tried so far out of Aarti's cookbook. All I can say is yes, yes, and more yes.

Reviewed pomegranate spritz cookies

Dec 11, 2014 on

These were easy and good, but INTENSELY pomegranate flavored. I felt the flavor was more than a bit too strong of fruit for a spritz cookie. I think I would try these again, but cut the pomegranate molasses to 1 T and add some vanilla.

Replied to killer mac and cheese with bacon

Sep 1, 2014 on

Oh, I would say, though, definitely serve this as a side dish. As a main it was super rich and a bit much to handle!

Reviewed killer mac and cheese with bacon

Sep 1, 2014 on

This was awesome! It did make a ton of mac and cheese, but we put some in the freezer and it was fine. I would definitely bring this to a summer BBQ or something that needed to feed a lot of people. I thought the consistency and taste were great, but it is a bit heavy on the mustard flavor, if I changed one thing next time I might just tone it down...

Very good! I could see serving this as a savory brunch option, as well.

Reviewed roasted halibut with saffron-fennel butter

Jul 3, 2014 on

This recipe was quite good (although the price of halibut was higher than I had expected!). The balance was nice between the halibut, the fennel, the tomatoes and the butter. I would make this again.

The butter was also excellent - I would make just the butter sometime and put it on biscuits.

Reviewed caramelized onion and goat cheese tarts

Jul 2, 2014 on

I thought these were super delicious, especially given how easy they are to make! I made two changes: I used one whole fresh onion instead of frozen onion, and left out the sugar. They were so good my husband and I actually ate all 12 on accident while "tasting them to be sure they were good" and had to make more. Yes, that happened.

Reviewed orange and blackberry trifle

Jun 15, 2014 on

I am giving this recipe 4 stars as it was written, but I made just a simple adjustment that took this into the super 5 star zone! I made it the first time as directed, but found that the liquor in the cake itself made the trifle bitter, and distracted from the flavor. I tried again but this time instead of drizzling the liquor over the cake itself,...

Reviewed cast iron skillet corn bread

Great recipe! This was super easy to make and came out absolutely perfectly. This will be my new go-to cornbread recipe.

Reviewed oven-fried latkes

Apr 2, 2014 on

This recipe was fine, but they do not taste like latkes. They honestly only taste like baked potato. For all the trouble of whipping egg whites and grating and straining potatoes to make these into latkes, you might as well just bake yourself a potato and put some sour cream and chives on top.

Reviewed Chia Seed Pudding

Jan 16, 2014 on

The first time I tried this, I followed the recipe exactly, but had no luck with my chia seeds "fluffing." The next day all I had was still just chia soup. I let it sit another 12 hours, but still no "fluffing."

Due to the other reviews I decided to give it a second chance and tried again with a slightly altered version of this...

Reviewed Coconut Toffee

Dec 15, 2013 on

I also used a dry measuring cup to measure the 1/2 cup water as someone suggested, don't know if that made a difference.

Reviewed Coconut Toffee

Dec 15, 2013 on

Made these this morning and they came out perfectly. I followed one of the reviewer's suggestion and used 1 1/2 c. coconut and increased cardamom to 1/2 t. and they came out beautifully - just like the picture! They are very crumbly at first, I think perhaps those who had trouble with this recipe did not let it sit the required amount of time before...

Reviewed Rosemary Chocolate Chip Shortbread

Dec 12, 2013 on

These cookies were fantastic! I tried half of the batch with the chocolate chips and half just plain rosemary, and I used the fresh rosemary I had on hand instead of dried. Both the plain rosemary and the chip-filled versions were delicious. From the comments it also looks like this recipe is pretty versatile, I look forward to trying other combinations...

Reviewed Pappardelle in Saffron Cream

May 12, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

Amazing! Almost didn't make this because of the review about the weirdness of the vanilla- so glad I did! Will be going into my keeper recipe list to definitely make again. Actually loved the subtlety of the vanilla. "

Reviewed Pumpkin-Parmesan Biscuits

These were fantastic. Easy to make, and they were quite fluffy and had a great flavor. I will definitely be making these again, this recipe is a keeper!
(I was only able to get 10 biscuits out of the recipe, but I might have just made them too big)"

Reviewed Roasted Zucchini Flatbread with Hummus, Arugula, Goat Cheese, and Almonds

May 28, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

Fantastically delicious! And so easy, will definitely put this on my "go to" recipe list."

Reviewed Peppermint Chocolate Fudge

Dec 11, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

I gave this a 4 because of the incredible ease of this recipe, but taste wise, I would say a bit below that. It is VERY sweet, almost sickeningly so. I would maybe try again with darker chocolate next time, I think that would work more with the peppermint. I think the concept is sound, just needs some tweaking.""

Reviewed White Sangria

May 31, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on

This was a huge hit at the family picnic yesterday. I used some very inexpensive pinot grigio, and found a small sample bottle of elderflower liquor at the liquor store that was just the right amount for the recipe. This was very refreshing and delicious. Perfect for summer and has almost a peachy flavor. Will definitely make again this summer!"
