Replied to Jack's Brunswick Stew Recipe : Trisha Yearwood : Food Network

Feb 15, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

Here's the link for her Brunswick Stew recipe. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/trisha-yearwood/jacks-brunswick-stew-recipe.html. I'm from the north and have never had Brunswick Stew before but the recipes I HAVE come across aren't anything like this. Actually, when I watched her make this, it turned my stomach. It looked like a bowl of vomit....

Feb 10, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

Instructions say to cook to 240 degrees but all my other fudge recipes that are similar say to cook to 234 degrees. I quickly stirred everything together and spread it in the pan. It started to turn a little sugary. I cut it into squares before it got totally cool. Next morning it was like a brick and I threw it out. I think I'll stick to my usual...

Instructions say to cook to 240 degrees but all my other fudge recipes that are similar say to cook to 234 degrees. I quickly stirred everything together and spread it in the pan. So far, it's got a good consistency (not sugary) but it hasn't fully cooled yet. Next time I'll cook to 234 to make it a little creamier.

I thought "change" was supposed to be a positive thing. This new format is a farce. Not surprised that I'm not the only one who hates it. It looks as though it was done by a 5 year old. As far as the recipe, I'm sure Trisha had nothing to do with this site posting an incorrect recipe. And what's up with trying to save a recipe to my folder???...

Reviewed Curry Cauliflower and Rice Casserole

Dec 5, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

I just took the casserole out of the oven 30 minutes ago and am eating it right now. If anyone hasn't cooked with curry powder, I'd go 'lean' on the amount and not add the whole tablespoon. I only added 1/4 tsp and it was still too much. I roasted the cauliflower as directed and even after the second baking, the finished product was still a little...

I have two mac & cheese recipes that I use; one with an egg base and one with a cream sauce base; this one combined the two. My family loves mac & cheese so I thought I'd try it out on them this past Thanksgiving. With so many other dishes, it wouldn't matter if no one liked it. But they did! There was only about a cup left and my granddaughter...

Reviewed Plum Tart

Aug 15, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I used 4 large regular plums as I wasn't able to get the prune plums but it turned out tasty anyway. It needs a little more fruit though. Someone had mentioned the fruit/crumb crust ratio was a little off. It was very easy to assemble and everyone loved it. Ina's recipes are sure things, unlike some of the recipes other hosts have posted."

Way too many potatoes and exceptionally bland. This recipe needs a whole revamp to give it some flavor. I won't make it again."

Very quick and easy. I made these with the butterscotch chips and gave some out to the family; they loved them. They were very sweet. I added a little more of the potato sticks. Next time I'll make them with peanut butter chips and add even more potato sticks. That might cut the sweetness just a tad."

Reviewed Ty's Thai Salad

Apr 29, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I just thought it was so-so. I make a Chinese Chicken Salad similar to this one but I like the dressing on that one much better than this one. I love cilantro but there was too much in it. The edamame was kinda tasteless. I added avocado but I also added some fresh mango cubed up, which was the only saving grace for the salad."
