Reviewed Sunny's German Chocolate Cake Cookies

Dec 26, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

A good cookie with good texture but basically a glorified chocolate chocolate chip cookie.

Reviewed Italian Spumoni Cookies (Spumookies)

Dec 19, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

Being Italian, I just had to make these cookies! They are a hearty cookie with a nice almond flavor. I also like the extra texture the dried cherries added. Basically a chocolate chip cookie with extras.

Reviewed Apple Spice Cake with Cream Cheese Icing

Dec 4, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

The cake was very moist and flavorful and it was a good use for any holiday left over apple cider. I followed the recipe to a T, using 1/2 tsp. of freshly grated nutmeg, and did not have any problems. I did, however, omit the lemon juice from the icing.

Reviewed Spiced Pumpkin-Raisin Cookies

These delicious cookies cannot get any easier to make! Love the crunch of the raw sugar. May add walnuts next time for a little more depth of flavor. Definitely a keeper to make around the holidays.

Reviewed Stuffed Peanut Butter Cupcakes with Swirled Peanut Butter Frosting

Sep 16, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

These cupcakes fell a bit more than I would have liked. The frosting did cover the sinkage, though. Luckily, I read the reviews and only put 3 tsp. vs. 3T. of batter first then covered with 1/8C vs. 1/4C. Otherwise I would not have had enough batter for 12 cupcakes. Overall, an okay cupcake with good gooey texture. "

Reviewed Red Velvet Cupcakes

Sep 10, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

These are not super moist cupcakes but still very good. It could have been due to the fact that I used 2 large eggs instead of 2 extra large eggs. The frosting was on the thin side which I liked because it made it perfect for spreading. I did have a good amount left over so maybe I'll halve the recipe next time. I got exactly 15 cupcakes. I sp"

Reviewed Peanut Butter No-Bake Cheesecake

Sep 4, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Very easy and quick to make. The texture is quite different than a baked cheesecake but still good. I would definitely make my own graham cracker crust next time. The Keebler crust taste a bit bland and fake."

Reviewed Key Lime Cake

Aug 1, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I love the taste of lime so I really enjoyed this cake. I followed the directions exactly and did not have any problems. The cake was very moist and flavorful. I did, however, use a 13x9 pan and not a 9x12 as stated in the recipe. I thought the cake looked a plain after I frosted it, so I just sprinkled the top with green sugar crystals. This"

May 17, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This recipe doesn't even deserve one star! I followed the recipe exactly and they came out crumbly. Couldn't even roll them in the sugar mixture! What a waste of use of expensive pine nuts."

Wow~an amazing cupcake and the frosting is out of this world! I used a 2-inch scoop and made 22 cupcakes. I followed the recipe to a T, including using extra large eggs, and had no problems at all. They came out perfect!

Reviewed Chocolate Macadamia Cheesecake Bars

Mar 7, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

These bars were not as flavorful as I thought they should be with the vanilla wafer/mac-nut/butter crust. I will take the suggestion of another review and add some of the nuts right into the cheesecake mixture. I also think by adding the chocolate chips into the mixture, instead of on top, would also add more flavor."

Reviewed 20-Minute Hoisin Skillet Salmon

Jan 10, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

A healthy, tasty and very easy to make dish. Served it over brown rice. The salmon took a few minutes longer to bake. But what's a couple of minutes mores when it's only taking 6 minutes? Will be making this dish again and again!"

Reviewed Fruitcake Cookies

Jan 9, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Excellent cookie! A butter cookie with attitude! I substituted the sherry with a teaspoon of vanilla extract. After sitting overnight, the fruit/nut mixture was moist but there was no extra liquid. I was worried that the cookies would be too dry but they were not. This cookie gives new meaning to fruitcake!"

Reviewed Apple Cider Snickerdoodles

Dec 14, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Great alternative to a snickerdoodle cookie. Loved the crunch, texture and looks of the apple chips. Good cookie to make during the holidays. Finally found the apple chips in the produce section of my local grocery store."

Reviewed Cranberry Upside-Down Cake

Nov 21, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Great cake! It took longer to bake (60 vs. 40 minutes) but that may have been due to the fact that my egg whites were not as stiff as I thought they were. Also, do as Paula did on her show, and add the frozen cranberries when you add the walnuts. Do not add in the batter. A delicious holiday cake that I'll be making many times!"

Reviewed Caramel Apple Cake

Nov 1, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

As one reviewer suggested, I made this cake in a 13x9 pan and it set up beautifully and the glaze was delicious! As many reviewers suggested, I also added the apples into the batter. I don't think the orange flavor went well with this cake so I will omit both the zest and juice next time...and there will be a next time. It's a great cake to make"

Reviewed Stovetop Lasagna

Oct 1, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

The lasagna was a family hit! I did not add the red pepper flakes, used turkey meat and low-fat mozzarella and ricotta cheese. Even with these changes, it was still delicious and healthier. Can't wait to make it again!"

This is the BEST zucchini bread ever! I know, there are zillions of zucchini bread recipes out there. I have made many in the past, but they have all seemed to sink in the middle. Not sure what the problem was. I followed this recipe to a T and it came out perfectly! To minimize any extra liquid, I wrung out the excess water from the zucchini"

Delicious and very moist. Love a recipe where you don't need to peel the apples! After reading the reviews, I watched the bake time and only baked the cake for an hour, at the most. The honey in the glaze made for a nice twist on regular sugar glazes."

Reviewed Chocolate Chip Brownie Bars

Jun 7, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Truely decadent! Paula put the chocolate chips in between the layers, which I did. It made for easier spreading of the cookie dough in the pan. After reading the reviews, I decided not to search for a 6.5 oz. brownie mix, which I do think is a typo. I used a 19.5 oz. mix and followed what was on the box for oil, water and egg. The brownies ca"

Reviewed Chocolate Cupcakes with Coffee Cream Filling

Jun 5, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

What a great new twist on chocolate cupcakes!! I read the reviews on the frosting and so was cautious about adding the coffee. I added one cup of confectioners sugar at a time, beating well after each addition. Then I added the coffee, one tablespoon at a time. Two tablespoons worked for me but it was a stiffer frosting. I may try three table"

FYI, I did have a little batter left over to make four cupcakes, that were equ"

Reviewed Banana Crunch Muffins

May 8, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

All the add-ins add great texture to the average banana nut muffin. I made my own granola, with almonds, which added nicely to the flavor. I only topped the muffins with granola and not the coconut, walnuts or banana chips. I felt it might be too much. I was able to make 29 standard muffins baking them for 23-25 minutes. This recipe is a kee"
