My Activity

Reviewed Garden Vegetable Soup

"This soup is a great base to play off of depending on what veggies you have on hand. I used a 28 oz can of San Marzano tomatoes since I'm not lucky enough to have great fresh tomatoes yet. I used some frozen grilled corn that I tucked away last summer also. I used more salt when adding in the potatoes.""

Reviewed Winter Fruit Compote with Selection of Cheese

"The compote is delicious. I served it over ice cream and french toast. I'll serve it Thanksgiving for an appetizer. I didn't want to open a marsala for just this little amount so I used all white wine.""

Reviewed Small Batch Fresh Strawberry Jam

"Yumm ... I get strawberries in my CSA shipment each week during this summer. This is a great way to use up the ones I didn't get to right away."

Reviewed Make-ahead Meal 3 Minute Steak Hoagies with Homemade Steak Sauce

"The sauce is delicious! A lot of flavors popping in there. I didn't have dry sherry on hand so I just replaced that with beef broth that I was already had open for the sauce."

"Oh my! Flashback time. I used to make these every year as a kid - 25 years ago now. They are the best!"

About Me

I’m a thirty something food enthusiast (aka. foodie!) with the great fortune to live in one of the most vibrant culinary communities in the world, the San Francisco Bay Area. To say I have a passion for food would be an understatement.   I have hundreds of cookbooks, have watched even more TV shows on how to cook … everything, and have taken many weeknight and weekend gourmet classes both near and far. I have had the opportunity to sample foods from some of the world’s best chefs running the gamut from a nine-course meal from Thomas Keller of The French Laundry in Napa, CA, to the best ceviché I have ever tasted from street vendor in Mulegé, Mexico! My most recent culinary adventure was a week long culinary boot camp at the Culinary Institute of America in St. Helena, Califoria! What a BLAST!

Favorite Foods

Favorite cuisine:  Hands down - Mediterranean!  First love is Italian with Spanish cuisine coming in a close second.  I am a huge fan and supporter of the local food movement.  My favorite weekend activity is heading to the local farmers' market to pick out seasonal, and freshest of the fresh, ingredients.

I'm famous for:  A shrimp ceviche that is a knock off from Rick Bayless.  Once, I had like three or four folks come over at a party and give me big hugs for the pleasure ... I also had a marriage proposal for Olive Tapenade Pizzettes.  ;)
