This is an excellent recipe. My husband said it was better than any he has had in Charleston which is a real complement since we've had some great shrimp and grits there. I added a few things to the dish since I had them on hand. I added some chopped red bell pepper, a small jalape�o, Cajun seasoning on the shrimp, and since I had no scallions I substituted...

I halvedthe recipe, used rotisserie chicken, added some thyme and nutmeg to the sauce, used frozen pease and corn, and left out the celery since I didn't have any on hand. It was delicious and I wouldn't have any problem serving it to company. A true comfort food.

This is a great recipe and my husband absolutely loved it. I did make a few changes according to what I had on hand. I left out the celery and reduced the amount of garlic and carrot; just a personal preference. I only had sweet sausage so I added some pepper flakes. to compensate. I had no pancetta or bacon so I omitted this step which ultimately"
