BACON-WRAPPED HEAVEN!!!!!!!!!! delicious, simple, flavorful, unique.

I did not have chili powder and created a substitute for it. Used cumin, garlic, paprika, red chili pepper flakes and oregano. I was hesitant but up for the experiment. Worked fine!!!!!!

Also I chose a thick-cut maple bacon from my butcher....

WINNER!! LOOKS GREAT! FLAVORFUL! Doubled recipe, brought to a New Year's Day Party - and everyone inhaled it & strangers found me to request the recipe. 2 MODIFICATIONS: Even though I doubled recipe, simply did a LIGHT olive oil drizzle - that is all that was necessary. ELIMINATED jalapenos. HERE IS A TIP: BUY YOUR AVOCADOS a few days ahead so...

FOR MY PALATE:THIS WAS JUST "OK" (1) Easy and fast (2) Healthful (3) Guests really liked it, but it was not the BEST soup ever in my opinion - lacked some punch (4) CONSISTENCY was what I wanted - based on other reviewers (THANKS!) I also reduced broth by a cup for thicker soup, and it was perfect! In fact I use emulsion blender and kept it somewhat...

(1) Made for my dinner party as one of the desserts and it proved great for those who just wanted a cookie with tea instead of bigger desserts (2) surprise: even the kids loved the apricot cookies and (3) I mis-read the recipe- I rolled the dough into balls, but my mistake - I FLATTENED the ball,...

EASY and delicious. Toss of parsley at end was refreshing. As others have written, I also substituted bacon for pancetta (snowed in & didn't have pancetta on hand). Using bacon instead of pancetta, I did pour off at least HALF of the bacon fat, sacrificing pumped up flavor for long-term health. You know what? STILL DELICIOUS with less of the fat....

2. NEED MORE BREAD. In New England, the French bread is dense and the bread weight matched Paula's recipe, but was not enough. Used two loaves.
