Reviewed chicken fajitas

Dec 4, 2014 on

I'm giving this one a four because it has potential. The chicken was really super tender and flavorful. The veggies were yummy. My problem was that two tablespoons of the marinade/sauce wasn't enough to really flavor the avocado. I ended up adding a lot more garlic and lime juice. Still, it was bland. So, next time I will double the sauce ingredients....

Okay. I marinated the steak after I pounded the livin' daylights out of it.

Although I made some modifications, I'm giving the recipe five stars because they were probably the best fajitas I've made. I used an American beer and a sirloin steak. I pounded the steak livin' daylights out of the meat with a mallet, marinaded it for an hour and broiled it. I only used 1/3 of the chipotle because I'm not a big fan but will use...

Awesome! I had my doubts about making mac and cheese in a slow cooker and the use of the soup, but I was way wrong. It was one of the best mac and cheeses I've made. I followed the recipe other than to decrease to two eggs and add some Parmesan. It was done in less than two hours, but I let it continue to cook with the lid off so the condensation...

My family enjoyed this meal, and I will make it again. Next time I'll use legs only, as it was a tad too greasy for me. Next time I will also double the rice/pasta/broth but keep the amount of veggies the same. Since I'm not a big fan of them, half a large yellow bell pepper was plenty.

Reviewed southwest turkey burgers

Aug 31, 2014 on

Excellent turkey burgers! I only gave it a 4 because I thought there was a tad too much cumin, but my family doesn't agree. I used pork bacon and jalapeno jelly. I used French bread rather than buns. I will make this again.

I was worried I wouldn't find it, but oddly Wal-Mart had the jalapeno pepper jelly. Making the burgers tonight.

Quick, easy, little clean-up, what's not to love? My teenage son isn't big into roasted potatoes, but hubby and I managed to polish them off. Will be makin this again. This time I used tenders. Next time, I'll use the breasts for more cheesy surface.

I made the pork and salsa tonight and served it with cilantro lime rice. It was delicious. The combination of the rub and then the bbq sauce was amazing. I'll definitely be making this again. The rice went along with it so well, I'm not sure if I'll try it with the wrap.

Reviewed braised short ribs

Aug 25, 2014 on

Wow! The store was out of short ribs, so I substituted a chuck roast cut into "country ribs". Absolutely delicious served with mashed potatoes and sauteed kale. I used Merlot and rosemary (rather than thyme) as that's what I had on hand. Can't wait to make it again with the short ribs. Thank you Anne!

Replied to Chicken Enchiladas with Roasted Tomatillo Chile Salsa Recipe : Tyler Florence : Food Network

Jul 13, 2014 on

At no point did Tyler Florence state these were "authentic" enchiladas. Currently living in a state that shares a very long border with Mexico, we would recognize this as Tex-Mex, where almost anything goes...even flour tortillas. And, here's a trick to see how hot your jalapeno is: taste the thing! And, rotel tomatoes just make it less authentic....

Reviewed broccoli and cauliflower salad

Jun 24, 2014 on

I needed to use up a head of cauliflower, so I made this minus broccoli and bacon. I didn't have the Old Bay so I swapped a drizzle of toasted sesame oil in place of the vegetable. It tasted almost identical to the dressing at a popular Japanese restaurant. The salad never made it to the table because by the time the rest of the meal was ready,...

I haven't had the sauce on my steak yet, but the sauce is so good I was hard put to stop myself from licking the food processor blade. We decided to add a fresno pepper, so it's an odd color, but we like the heat.

Even my scaled down version (no giardiniera, no red peppers, and stuffed into a toasty, cheesy loaf of Italian bread) was totally awesome! I can't wait to make it again with all the fixin's. And next time I'm making a full batch so I have leftovers. Thank you, Jeff.

OMB! Gryos are just about my favorite guilty food indulgence, and this tastes just like a gyro. The feta sauce was ssssooo good. We bought some bread product that wasn't a good choice, so we ended up eating...

As written, I give it a three. This is what I did to make it a 4 or 5: I used green enchilada sauce straight from the can. I think the canned chilis taste too canned. I skipped cooking the onion and used the time to shred some cabbage, dice a tomato, an avocado, cilantro and onion. I doused the garnish with lime juice and topped the enchiladas...

As written, I give it a three. This is what I did to make it a five-star: I used green enchilada sauce straight from the can. Didn't add the extra can of chilis. Rather than cooking the onion, I did a quick topping of shredded cabbage, onion, cilantro, tomato and doused it with lime juice. It was about the same time, since I didn't mess with...
