Reviewed carrot-cashew salad

4 days ago on FoodNetwork.com

The puree was too clumpy and thick for us. We would have preferred it with just a little olive oil and the chopped cashews on top.

Reviewed hoisin pork with rice

4 days ago on FoodNetwork.com

I'm not usually a fan of hoisin sauce, but the tweaks here were nice. Everything came together very well and made for a nicely rounded dish. I did used my own cooked rice instead of frozen and sauteed the snow peas instead. A little extra time but worth the trouble.

Reviewed smoky roasted mushrooms

4 days ago on FoodNetwork.com

Nice and easy side dish that didn't need any tweaking on my part. I think it would be a nice winter staple!

Reviewed bacon-wrapped blackberry pork roast

4 days ago on FoodNetwork.com

A wonderful holiday entree! We loved this, and it made for awesome leftovers the rest of the week. Will definitely be making it again!

Reviewed garlic potato gratin

4 days ago on FoodNetwork.com

Awesome holiday side dish. I was afraid the garlic would be too over-powering, but the flavors melded together terrifically. Will be doing it again this winter!

Reviewed classic cobb salad

4 days ago on FoodNetwork.com

This worked quite well for us. Will definitely include it in our summer rotation from now on.

Reviewed buttermilk pork chops with corn relish

4 days ago on FoodNetwork.com

Oh so good! I wish I'd made this sooner so I could have enjoyed the corn relish longer. The chops were so deliciously tender and were bursting with flavor. No sauce needed!

The whole family loved this - the flavors were great, and it made for a wonderfully simple weeknight meal. Would definitely make again!

Reviewed ham and goat cheese sandwiches

My new favorite lunch! I have it nearly once a week. Works really well with roast beef too.

Reviewed broiled asparagus

Perfect. So easy to do and very little mess to clean up afterwards. A go-to for spring.

Reviewed polenta with fontina and eggs

Aug 8, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

I accidentally over-cooked the eggs, but my husband loved it that way. I'd prefer my yolk a little runnier, but this was tasty all around and made for an awesome leftover breakfast the next day!

Reviewed sausage-provolone patties with fried eggs

Aug 8, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

Husband liked this better than I did, but he's definitely the meat-eater of the family. I poached the eggs to go with this, and the liquid yolk added some much-needed moistness to the patties. Good flavor, but they were a little on the dry side.

Reviewed apple-cheddar soup with bacon

Aug 8, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

Super easy to make with the immersion blender! A very nice soup for a cool autumn evening, though my husband was not impressed with the croutons. I thought they made for a tasty addition, so maybe next time he can try something different!

Reviewed angel hair pasta with walnut-carrot sauce

Aug 8, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

A decent quick meal for a weeknight. Nothing particularly exciting, but we did find it to be a nice kid-friendly vegetarian option.

Reviewed skillet chicken parmesan

Aug 8, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

A wonderful lighter alternative to the original. Easy to make and equally easy to adjust the seasoning for personal tastes. Husband loved it, so now it's in our go-to recipe box!

Reviewed oven-fried fish with potato salad

Aug 3, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

The fish was fantastic! We loved the method of cooking the fish and have done it a couple times now. The potato salad was not so much of a favorite, it just seems like something is missing. But overall, a very decent meal and so easy to make.

Reviewed salmon chowder with dill

Aug 3, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

Very nice - my husband could hardly believe it had been cooked in the slow cooker! I used a little less dill (it's not my favorite herb), but I would definitely make this soup again.

Reviewed creamy chicken pasta

Aug 3, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

This was great for a hot summer evening! We felt the snow peas needed to be cooked just a little bit, but otherwise, the dish was really successful.

Reviewed butter-braised carrots and leeks

Aug 3, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

I've been doing this dish with just the carrots and sometimes with parsnips thrown it. Herb choice is important - without the herbs, the veggies really fall flat. Instead of lemon juice, a little white wine or vinegar is a nice, fresh change of pace.

Reviewed lemon-parmesan roasted potatoes

Aug 3, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

Recipe calls for way too much bread crumb, but that's easy to adjust during the tossing process. The potatoes cooked perfectly and had a nice depth of flavor with the citrus and the cheese. A decent holiday side dish.

Reviewed quinoa-tomato salad

Aug 3, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

Nice base for a veggie/starch side dish. Goes really well with chicken and seafood main dishes!

Reviewed sesame snap peas

Aug 3, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

Very easy to make and goes nicely with any Asian-flavored protein. Quite tasty!

Reviewed spicy chicken and almond stew

Aug 3, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

A very tasty soup! The flavors worked really well together, and I think it'd make for a wonderful winter evening dinner. Our only concern was the amount of kale - it was too much for us - so next time, I would just add however much we like. Definitely would make again!

Reviewed smothered pork chops and grits

Aug 3, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

Terrific! We replaced the onions with mushrooms (neither my husband nor I like onions), and it was fantastic! The pork was perfectly cooked and went so well with the grits, naturally. A very comforting meal fit for a cool fall evening!

Reviewed chicken nacho soup

Aug 3, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

Not the best nacho soup recipe I've tried, but decent. Certainly easy to get prepped and made. Didn't bother with making the cheese sauce topping, just sprinkled on some Colby jack cheese, and that worked well enough.

Reviewed Orange-Scented Chilled Tomato Soup

Aug 12, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Awesome soup! So nice for a hot Texas evening, both in making and in serving. The flavors blend so well together. Added some homemade croutons for a heartier feel, but it's just fine on its own. Will definitely put this into the summer rotation!"

Reviewed Warm Spinach Salad With Pork Milanese

Aug 12, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Very nice meal, easy and quick to get together. I used pork cutlets because that's what I had, and they worked just fine. Drizzled a little olive oil and balsamic vinegar over the spinach and tomatoes before serving to add an extra punch of flavor. Would definitely make again!"

Reviewed Mexican Chorizo and Sweet Potato Soup

Jan 17, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I don't really think it was necessary to cook the chorizo in oil - it made the soup just a little on the greasy side, considering the chorizo released enough of its own fat. Other than that, it was a very fine soup. We added a little bit of hot sauce to give it a bit more spice, and it made for a very enjoyable meal!"

Reviewed Almond Layer Cake With White Chocolate Frosting

Dec 11, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Not a bad cake, not at all. It's very subtle in flavor, but the white chocolate was a little over-powering. The recipe worked very well for cupcakes, and they are definitely quite pretty. Nice, but I'm not sure I would make it again."

Reviewed 'Easiest Ever' Chicken Mole Enchiladas

Sep 26, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Not impressed. It certainly was easy to make, but it just didn't make a hit with us. My sauce came out really clumpy and thick, and the heat was definitely not there. I could totally accept the thicker sauce as my fault, but I was really hoping for some spiciness. Once I'd doctored it a bit, it was better. There's potential there, but I guess it j"
