Reviewed Chocolate Gooey Butter Cookies
"This recipe has been around for at least 48 years. These are called Chocolate Crinkles, and they are less "gooey" and more like a fudge brownie. These cookies are best eaten within a couple of days, or frozen to keep them chewy. I made these out of one of my first cook books, the Betty Crocker's Cooky Book. It is a fantastic cook book that h"

Reviewed Virginia Peanut Soup
"This is very close to the peanut soup at Kings Arms Tavern in Williamsburg and at the Mount Vernon Inn restaurant. And - duh- it is rich! That's why they serve very small amounts - I'm not sure that they give you a whole cup. The Kings Arms Tavern's recipe has you putting the soup though a sieve - but today I bet they use a food processor! I ma""
Reviewed Carrot Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting
"Carrot cake is dense to start with - add whole wheat flour and they were like lead bricks. I also didn't like the faux cream cheese. I'd rather save my calorie intake and have the real deal. Especially for a Birthday celebration - which is why I made these. ""
Reviewed Chocolate Frosting
"This is a review of this frosting recipe which I have used before. I'm sorry that some people have had problems with this frosting recipe. But it's a Hersey's TYPE classic. Very simple - and easy. Try 1 to 2 tablespoons of hot water instead of cream. Cream can cause things to stiffen up. Look up some others and compare (sometimes Hersey's h""
Reviewed Pressure Cooker Chili
"My one start rating must have insulted someone on my previous review cause Food Network removed it. But maybe someone had misinterpreted my review, so I'm rewriting it. As I, and many others, have stated before - I tried this recipe in a slow cooker and found that the receipt had turned out ok, and I would probably make this again. I opted to "
Reviewed Rum Raisin Tiramisu
"Wonderful flavors! But that picture doesn't match the recipe. You have two or more layers, and that dish in the picture couldn't be much more than a inch or a inch and a half! "
Reviewed Pressure Cooker Chili
"Ok so the receipe was good in a slow cooker. But about 20 years ago I had a pressure cooker blow up, and I've never - ever - NEVER tried a pressure cooker again! And I really don't care if they've changed and are better now. Cleaning up a ceiling - just once can change your mind forever!
About Me
I love to cook. Period! Wanted to become a pastry chef when I was a teenager. But atlas, girl chefs weren't common and schools were even less common. Loved and watched Julia Child and Graham Kerr with loving enthusiasm. As a teenager I had an idea to open a bakery at the 'brand new mall' and just sell cookies. I was told 'how silly'! Now look at the malls - cookies, cinnamon rolls and other specialty stores abound! I could have been the first Mrs. Fields!
Favorite Foods
LOVE DESERTS! Of course they have to tast fabulous, but they also have to be pretty. Pile of sweet goo just won't do.
Love Lamb and seafood. Well except squid.
DON'T like kale, collard greens and don't EVEN think of servng me orka - unless it's fried!
And since I like just about everything else - I think it's ok not to like just a few.
Famous recipe? Hmmm. . .I have an original recipe for lemmon cookies and a black walnut cake.
Fav restaurant? Like way too many to list just one. Ray's the Steaks in Arlington VA, The 4 Chimney Inn in VT - But I'd have to say at the top of the list is Elizabeth's in Duck NC. were the owner Leonard (who's a retired chef) - staff - and chef love what they're doing AND it shows! Elizabeth's Thanksgiving dinner with wine pairings just can't be topped!
