My Activity

Reviewed Instant Chocolate Cake

"Oh my gosh, chocolate cake in five minutes and with ingredients I keep in the pantry. Used canola oil, vanilla sugar, and half and half (no milk). Forgot the splash of vanilla. I thought this was a wonderful. I topped with a little more half and half and am eating it right now. This is a keeper"

Reviewed Good Eats Roast Turkey

"I'm going to try this recipe for the first time but the cooking time on this seems pretty short ... I thought the rule of thumb was 20 minutes per pound, which would put a 16# turkey at 5 hours, 20 minutes ...More than double the 2.5 hours of total roasting time described in these instructions ...

Also, in Alton's Gravy recipe, which mimics this one, he says to remove the bird when the breast reaches 151 ... there's a whole argument going on over there about carry over heat, lowered FDA temp recommendations, etc. At what temp did you pull the bird from the oven?
