About Me

I love great tasting food with an inviting presentation.  Dining at a beautiful veneer round table for 12 is the wealth of life. Setting the table for dining is essential for me.  I grew up with my two grannies and the candelabra.  Having a least one votive soy candle with a Waterford crystal bowl of fresh lemons and a fresh mint leaf takes me there from Dallas, Texas to California.

My Aunt Fayrene Lilly [California], had this amazing lemon tree in the backyard.  Every summer vacation,  we traveled to California for two-weeks.  I greeted my aunt as soon as I hurried out the vehicle heading straight to her backyard to feast on as many lemons as possible [they are free and delicious]. I made sure I purchased a bag of wine-candies and saved them for that special moment.

I itched for days [too much acid in one day].  My first trip to California acquainted me to Pismo Beach, and that moment, which my feet touched the sands-I was enthralled and stood still for a long time wishing my Big Mama were there standing next to me.

It was in her backyard where I picked fresh vegetables from the garden, feed the chicken, collected the brown eggs, fed the dog [Chain], ran from the roosters, and from snakes coming up from the Trinity River, as I was picking greens, squash, okra, tomatoes and green beans.

I always so the snakes coming my way before they cold bite me.  I would drop the basket of vegetable running with great speed screaming for my Big Mama.  She knew the urgency and type of scream-She appeared at the end of the wood step with the hoe.  With one straight chop, the snakes were dead.

The snakes didn't stop me from my daily shores as a tiny little girl.

My Big Mama, was the best cook.  Peach Cobbler, Stuffed Bell Peppers, Meat Loaf, Greens, Mac and Cheese, and her pie crust was so flaky. I am waiting to master the flaky pie crust for my peace cobbler for Thanksgiving.  She cooked strictly from scratch.

Favorite Foods

Roasted tomatoes, Roasted Bell Peppers on a bed of Spinach seasoned with fantastic fresh herbs.  Any great dish with eggplant, stuffed bell peppers [Big Mama style], Japanese Sweet Potato Fries, Broccoli and Rice Casserole, mushrooms, olives, fresh sockeye salmon, fresh tuna, Mushroom and olives tetrazzini with roasted tomatoes, and lots of cheese, Chard, a variety of vegetable soups [squash and tomatoe soup my favorites, Edamame, Lentils, and peach cobbler made from scratch.  I am a food connoisseur.

My friend Teresa made me a New York Style Cheese Cake from scratch for my birthday a few years ago, and I ate the whole cake at work at my desk [my colleagues were furiously angry], and I was sick for the rest of the evening.  It was delicious!

I use fresh lemons [reminds me of those moments in the back of Aunt Fayene's backyard] for my table centerpiece, in a Waterford crystal bowl.  I place the crystal votive candle holder inside another rectangle bowl filled with water to remind me of Pismo Beach.  I admire and appreciate a beautiful seashore.  Dining on the seashore with a fine table setting is my passion.

I will be waiting for the invite.
