This recipe works beautifully with firm tofu, too. We didn't deep fry, we panned fried. I used rice flour instead of wheat flour. We served this recipe as a side with a bowl of miso broth with veggies and soba noodles (100% buckwheat). Excellent. I also had a ton of the sauce left over. Great idea about substituting orange peel - I forgot...
