Reviewed Ginger Cookies

Dec 24, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Oh hi, new favorite ginger cookie recipe. This is very similar in taste and chewiness to Starbucks' molasses cookies if you are familiar with them. Super easy to make, and even quicker to bake. Thanks Paula. ^_^""

Great recipe! A little salty; the smoked turkey legs I used were salty in addition to what was added. I'll cut back next time. Definitely a keeper.""

Reviewed Buttermilk Baked Chicken

Sep 23, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Very moist as the previous folks stated...mm! I subbed Italian breadcrumbs for the cornflakes. Still came out pretty crispy without the proper wire rack, but will definitely use the rack next time. I let it marinate in the buttermilk herb mixture for about 4 hours. I removed the skin off of the breast and thigh to save calories but left it on the...

Perfect blend of flavors! Seriously tastes just like Panera's--I've found my go to recipe! As everyone else commented, each stage took a bit longer than stated (carmelizing and cooking out the wine), but well worth it. Came out a bit watery, but corn starch could've fixed that. Subbed regular aged swiss for Gruyere this time. Definitely would rec...

Reviewed Pumpkin Bread

Sep 6, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Great recipe! Fresh pumpkin wasn't available in stores yet, tried it with canned pumpkin and used about 2 1/2 cups instead for moisture control. Substituted half whole wheat flour and half all purpose. Yummy. Definitely a keeper.""

Reviewed Momma Callie's Banana Nut Bread with Honey Butter

Feb 7, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Yummy! Like everyone and their mom said--it's very moist! I was afraid of trying this recipe at high altitude because I haven't baked much at this elevation, so I left out the baking soda, used 1/3 less baking powder, room temperature (large) eggs, and put in a little less sugar.

And unrelated, subbed walnuts instead of pecans....

Uhh. Delicious! And super easy--great for party favors or work parties...just neglect to address the rum ;)

Reviewed Jerk Rubbed Chicken Thighs with Home-Made Mango-Habanero Hot Sauce

Jan 31, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I remember at the very end, switching it up to be less spicy for the folks I was serving, and I do regret that. I'd have to marinade longer and get fresher cuts to get a jucier thigh. I ended up serving these in home-made quesadillas (good idea - not so good timing)--in my defense, I'd had way too much vodka to be cooking in the first place. I'll...

Reviewed Mashed Potatoes

Jan 31, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Haha, wanted to try something new with mashed potatoes, and I just got good, slightly different mashed potatoes. A good staple, but adding less cream and more seasoning (rosemary) or trying this with sweet potato would give me something ultra awesome to rave about. Everyone loved 'em for Thanksgiving a few years back but who doesn't love mashed potatoes,...

I'd probably halve the sweet bread (or replace it completely) with another bread to get the consistency a little more up to par, but delicious. I added sausage. Yummm!

Simple flavors and pretty juicy. I'd make again but definitely not something with a "wow" factor. Good nonetheless!

Super easy; can't go wrong with this one! I'm beginning to realize that I love Paula Deen more than I suspected. Which means I love "BUDDER, Y'ALL"! How depressing. Anyway. Great recipe. =)

Reviewed Chicken and Dumplings

Jan 31, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

My faaavorite by far! I like the dumplings just balled up--they're perfect. My fiance prefers biscuit mix dumplings and because it makes enough for two pots, I just do one of each kind. I do half cream of celery and half cream of mushroom.

When the dumplings are gone, it turns into a great chicken noodle soup (just add egg noodles)....

So tasty! Not so good for you. But so so tasty! I make this every so often and it's always gone quick. You can cut down on the rum sauce and it won't be missed.

Reviewed Crunch Top Apple Pie

Jan 31, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Super easy; this is my go-to for apple pie! The first time I made this a few years back, I used an apple-pear cross. Yeah, too watery--shouldn't have even tried. =)

Reviewed Chicken Burgers with Garlic-Rosemary Mayonnaise

Jan 31, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Loved the flavors (and the simple fact it's an easy alternative to super greasy beef burgers)! I actually did make it with chicken, but next time I will try out turkey since a lot of folks seem pleased. I added diced onion to the chicken mixture and halved the mayonnaise mixture as everyone seemed to have problems with it being too moist. I also put...

Jan 31, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I was a first-time braiser and was hesitant..I added a large can (had to be about 20oz) of crushed tomatoes in its juices and teency extra water; next time I'll add regular and no extra water, as it came out a bit more like beef stew. I wasn't sure if my lid and pot would be a tight enough fit, so I put a handtowel on top and a half gallon jug filled...
