Replied to cajun shrimp and rice

Oct 25, 2014 on FoodNetwork.com

Over at food.com mirj has a great cajun seasoning mix that has no salt. It's equal parts white pepper, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and paprika. So easy and DELISH. It is a bit more potent than store bought so tread lightly at first. I first tried it back in 2010 and I haven't used anything else since.

I made this tonight for supper as a side for breaded chicken breasts. It was quite tasty. The only thing I did differently was that I halved the recipe since there are only two of us and I use my mandoline to slice potatoes about 1/8 inch thick and I didn';t precook them. My regular recipe uses gruyere cheese instead of cheddar and I was ...

I'm a strong believer of "Everything tastes better with cumin" so I'm surprised it took me this long to try this recipe. I've been considering it for quite some time, but despite my love for cumin, I just didn't think that it would be flavorful enough with such a simple ingredient list. WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG?!?!?!? It was delicious. What's even...

Made this for supper tonight and it was a big hit. I used Knorr';s Chicken Bouillon (powder) for the broth. I don';t normally like it as a broth but it did really well in this recipe and I was able to almost duplicate Rice-a-Roni. Thanks for sharing this recipe."

This was very good. As a recent convert to many veggies, I needed the direction on roasting carrots without having charcoal. The only thing I did differently from the recipe was to add a little salt and oregano. I had planned on picking out and eating only the potatoes and onions, but I really did like the flavor of the carrots so I ate them, ...

You shouldn't rate a recipe that you haven't tried -- you can buy cajun seasoning at the store or you can do a search at food.com for Cajun seasoning and use Mirj's . It's the best ever.

This was delicious! I used 2 chipotles and a little of the adobo sauce. I didn';t boil the chicken at all. I opted to sear the chicken in a saute pan with some onions, cumin, and garlic to get a nice flavor from that and then I finished off the cooking in the oven with the sauce. I used less salt in the sauce than called for. Served with...

This was a very good meal. For our tastes, the spices could have been stronger and it could have used more onions but it was a very good jumping off place. I used a mandolin to cut my potatoes thinly and they cooked in 45 minutes. I would also cover the dish for most of the cooking time, uncovering it only at the end to give the topping some c...

This was good. There are only two of us, so I halved the recipe as far as the spices go. For the rice I used 1 cup basmati rice (uncooked) and used 1-3/4 cup of broth to cook the rice since I never have minute rice on hand and I was trying to cook out of my pantry. I also added 1 seeded fresh serrano pepper along with the bell pepper since I h...

This was really tasty. I didn';t think the lemon and capers would go with the cajun coating for the chicken but it was a really nice combo. I used Mirj';s Cajun Seasoning (http://www.food.com/recipe/cajun-seasoning-mix-14190). Definitely a winner."
