While the lemon added a very refreshing zing to this dish, that's about all the "wow!" it possessed. On the whole, the cheese spread was really bland and ended up tasting like fresh lemon in a paste. It wasn't bad, mind you, but the lemon seemed to very much dominate and wash out the flavors of the cheese and basil, leaving only their textures ...

Ok, I've now made about 6 batches and I think we're getting there. First, I really like the flavor of these, they aren't as sweet as yams or sweet potatoes, which I like, but they do have more flavor than regular white potato fries. The main problem is with getting them crisp.

The kale chips are great! Flavor wise they tend to remind me of my mom's fried okra. Other reviewers on here have mentioned it, but these cannot be eaten with a dip... unless you plan on using a spoon! They are like crispy tissue paper and often break just transferring them from the pan. Nonetheless, a delicious alternative to fried chips!""

This dish was really delightful and I felt like it should be imparting much more guilt with its flavor... but the ingredients really allow enjoyment while still having very healthful components.

I did make one addition to the filling, I added pine nuts for a little crunch and it seemed to work well. This will feed 4 easily (w/sides)...
