Reviewed Mexican Mango Cake

Apr 22, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

The cake itself was delicious. It took an hour in my oven. I took into account the previous reviews about the topping being watery and overly sweet. I used frozen mango, which I let thaw in a strainer over a bowl, giving it a stir every once in awhile. I used 2 tbsps of the liquid that drained out instead of water and only 1/4 cup plus 2 tbsps su"

I was dubious about making these after reading all the mixed reviews. I decided to go dough balls to the wall and try them anyway, since my kids wanted chocolate chip cookies RIGHT NOW and my favorite recipe requires the dough to be refrigerated overnight. They're just average. A little cakey, a little greasy. They need... something. Definitely no"

Every body loved them. I used dried cherries because my store was out of candied. Baked them at 350 on parchment lined sheets and they did not burn. Also added an extra 1/2 stick of butter and cut the white sugar to 1/2 cup. I only gave it 4 stars because I tweaked the original recipe, but the end product was a 5!"

I'm always looking for a better chocolate chip cookie recipe and I think I've found it. Yummy! I only had light brown sugar so I added a tbsp of molasses. Baked at 350 {because my oven tends to burn} for 12 minutes. Definitely refrigerate dough overnight for best results. "

Reviewed Toffee Crunch Cookies

Apr 26, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Crispy and chewy - my favorite texture for cookies. Definitely give this recipe a try! Omitted the almonds since I didn't have any. Used 8 oz bag toffee chips. Chilled the dough before baking and between batches - cookies just turn out better that way in my experience. Only took 10 - 12 mins in my oven on parchment lined trays. I think next time I"

Reviewed Slow-Cooker Corned Beef and Cabbage

Mar 17, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

First time making corned beef and cabbage and so glad I used this recipe! Super easy, super tasty... even the sauce which I was skeptical about. As per previous reviews, I only used about 1/3 the spice packet and it was not overpowering. As for the cooking time, I put it on high until it came to a nice bubble and then down to low for a total cook...

I used butter instead of Crisco and they turned out flat and greasy. Thankfully I checked the oven right at 8 mins or they would've been burned too. Reduced oven temp to 325 which helped with the burning. I gave it 5 stars so I wouldn't ruin the rating since I messed up by using butter. I think next time I will just use Food Network Magazine's Ch...

Easy and delicious! I prefer to make cookies from scratch but this recipe is a great time saver during the Holiday madness. Served them on Christmas Eve and everybody loved them. Even the teenager who doesn't like coconut. Maybe I forgot to tell him there was coconut in them (-;""

This took forever to make but my whole family loved it - even the picky 4 yo who doesn't "yike" mashed potatoes. After reading other reviews, I doubled the tomato paste. I also added dried thyme and a few bay leaves with the veg. It was not lacking in flavor!""

Followed the recipe exactly. Wish I read the reviews first. Definitely need more baking time - even tho the toothpick came out clean after 30 mins - they were still undercooked in the middle. Flavor was just ok on the edible outside ones. I was disappointed since I was eager to try these & had all the ingredients on hand.""

Easy & really tasty! Omitted the sherry & used dried herbs but was still delicious. Added about 2 cups cooked white rice with the chicken. Also threw in 2 handfulls of frozen peas into the pot right before serving.
