This is a delicious pie, but not easy to make (at least for me), mostly because cooking the butter/brown sugar didn't work the first time. I tried to caramelize the sugar so that it melted and it ended up burning the butter. I never did get that "characteristic nutty-caramel odor" before it turned very dark and smelled burned.
