your poor wife! clear broth is better when you're sick; giving pork fat and chicken fat to a sick person will only worsen their condition. chicken stock also often has trace elements of salmonella--next time do clear veggie broth to help the healing. :)

To really improve the health aspect of this decadent soup and to make it more veggie friendly made these changes: NO point in using chicken stock���adds fat and sodium; so used veggie stock (that way my vegetarian friends can eat!) omit bacon bits (too fatty) and instead add caramelized onions! Think about it���lovely smoky flavor with no added fat!...

Whatever you do do NOT use chicken broth! Made it too fatty/salty--use vegetable broth for a *healthy* soup--with better flavor. Others are right as well--needs more spice --more kick--suit to taste...! :)

ALSO, can't IMAGINE why they say spread chocolate with a knife--what are the CraZy? You don't want to break anything, so as the chocolate melts spread with a spatula of course.

Dangerously sweet! I normally don't make stuff like this (white flour, sugar etc.) but very tasty/sweet....more gooey than you realize--careful of teeth. Need to break apart when they're still cold. Next time I would add orange zest on top of chocolate. I served with cut strawberries strewn over, made all the difference.

Like the other gal *definitely* omit the bacon--why turn a healthy sandwich into an unhealthy one with adding unnecessary fat/sodium & nitrates? It was sublime without the bacon and a huge hit!

I AGREE with the other reviewers; whatever you do OMIT the bacon and all the fatty bacon fat part. The recipe on it's own is terrific and everyone loves it; but with the pork fat some of my guests couldn't eat it!
